Hey.
The warning light for the brakes in the dash lights up when I brake the car and stays on even if I release the brake pedal. But if I tap the pedal it goes away.
I still have brake fluid, the level hasnt changed.
What could be the problem? Also I just washed the car and drove it back to my friends house without having the light to come on a single time.
Could sometjing just have frozen and therefor causing the light to come on? It's pretty cold here and about to get colder ^^

Your brake reservoir is going bad.

It could also be that the spring to hold the e brake pedal is getting old. Put your hand on the pedal and pull it up and see if there's any play. My friend has that problem with his 97.

The reservoir going bad?? It'll never happen.

I'd like to know exactly what the fluid level is.

Which brake light on the dash, there's 2

I have noticed the brake light come on intermittently before on my car, usually only flashes for a second when I'm braking and making a turn, not sure if this is due to low brake fluid or what, I haven't checked the fluid level but I assumed it was the sensor being cold or something since it only does it when its cold out..or at least I've only noticed it when its cold. For me its the idiot light below the message center (next to where the check engine light and o/d off light are).

The fluid level is perfect and always have been.
I didnt know theres more than one brake warning light but it's the red one that in my opinion looks like a warning for the e brake. Although it doesnt light up when I put the e brake on etc.
Its below the message center next to the check engine light

KeVIIIn: Exactly my theory! But still would be nice to know if it could be anything worse than just a small problem.

My 93 will flash the brake light every now and then. It grabs your attention since its RED. Once every couple months. Fluid level it good.

I had that when I bought mine a few years go, just over filled it and I have never seen it come back.

OK, hopped in my Mark to refamiliarize myself with it.

Yes only 1 brake light, sorry

Check the release on the floor and make sure its forward and that the parking brake is fully released.

To note back on Gmans post
Typically the reservoir won't go bad, but the level sensor inside can, you can't get just the reservoir by itself, and most remanned Masters are sold without it

+1 to topping the fluid off, just a little low and the light will come on, if it only comes on during braking and for a short time after, I would suspect low fluid level. They want to be 100% full

I guess the reservoir is worth a look, thou highly unlikely
I've pried hundreds of them loose, and couldn't manage to break one even when trying. How Gregg found a bad one I dunno...
I guess even a blind hog can find an acorn sometimes
