Do not by magnaflow cats

Thats very disappointing. I was really looking forward to eventually running their high flow cats. Exhaust work can get costly when it comes to emissions, so maybe I will keep my oem cats on after reading that.

Sorry to hear about your trouble with them. And thanks for the heads up on those.

Mine's a year old and still is good but the flange that bolts to the manifold was not right and I had to grind the holes open for it to fit.

Have had mine on for two months and no complaints, I bought the direct-fit cats and they came with a 5-year warranty from the outlet I bought them from. Hopefully your situation is just a fluke and Magnaflow makes it right. Please let us know how it goes, I'm curious.

I've had a high performance Magnaflow cat on my Silverado for the last almost a year now, no problems. No flange issues either, but then I bought a universal race converter and had it welded in.

Okay back from summit racing, thy are going to take care of me as magnaflow won't answer the phone. I will say this, I am out more money to have them taken off and put back on. I also will be hard pressed to buy their products in the future.

I know a lot of the other products they have are good, but I am less than pleased with the cat situation.

Damn, good timing for me as I'm considering a Magnaflow exhaust and their cats cause I know at least one of my cats is shot. Thanks for the feedback.

Turboguy, I do not want to say that all their products are no good, but this cat going out in less than a year with out any issues with the car, such as the ones I had before they where replaced, leads me to believe the cats was a time bomb from the factory

Yep, Their exhaust has a good name but cats, like aftermarket O2 sensors, MAFs, etc. can be difficult to do well (or cheaply).

I understand the frustration due to the cost which is goig to be incurred. However, these things happen. Could have been an OEM and you would feel the same way. It is an unfortunate part of the game we play.

Just because one person had a bad experience, doesn't mean all of Magnaflow's product line is all garbage.

They actually make high quality products.

I am sure Magnaflow will resolve the issue with the OP.

I would be looking at your emissions system and why they went bad. Cars don't fail on their own.

I have to disagree, if there is a quality issue with a part it will fail in an environment that it shouldn't have, the whole reason we have warranties. I more frustrated that magnaflow won't answer the phone to take care of a customer than I am with the product failing... The 75 to have the part replaced by the muffler shop is fine, while upsetting due to the premature failure. All in all I am just glad I didn't spen 1800 on oem set the first time, as stated its possible to happen to them as well. But frankly due to a poor product and then lack of support I won't buy their products in the future. The quality of a part means nothing without support

I would guess that Magnaflow isn't answering the phone due to the Holiday weekend and everyone probably being off, I was on their website and it looks like their warranty covers installation costs and replacement costs. I would give them a call on Monday and see if you can get it sorted out.

I would have to say like any part you could just have a bad one, unless there are gobs of other people with the same issue I would not say the product name is bad. Sometimes they may have changed the product also along the line and may have an issue we will see more of.

I would not rule out the car damaging it either, once it is off I guess you will get a better picture of what may be the reason.

I do like MagnaFlow products. I have the complete LS system and their mufflers on 2 other cars.

That said don't expect much from customer service. I called them after receiving my LS system to point out that they list it as a 2.5 system when it is a 2.25 system. I was just doing so to let them know the misprint and wasn't complaining, two people I talked to were ignorant.
