How much will this 98 LSC go for?

The title ruins everything.

the problem with a salvage title is that the aren't really specific as to why there is a salvage title. occasionally, for weird reasons, cars with minor damage end up with salvage titles.
and other times, i've helped straighten the frame and transplant the entire front end of VW golf from a parts car. no salvage title.
so you just have to look at the car and decide case by case.

My LSC has a salvage title and I bought the car off the original owner; the man told me it was his wife's car and she got rear-ended. The insurance company said it would cost too much to fix, but she insisted on having it repaired so now it's a salvage title.

With the trunk open, you can see along the bottom of rear glass that the car has been repaired - the gap is wider on one side than the other.

What it comes down too is money. I will not pay much for a car no matter how good of condition it's in if it has a salvaged title. Yes it could've been just a theft recovery, but it still has that title. All that equates to is a huge headache in the future when it's time to sell.. Not worth the trouble unless they're cheap. .02

First off, I wouldn't even consider this thing unless I knew for sure that i'd drive it till the wheels fell off. The title ruins everything.

That being said, I wouldn't pay more than 3,250 for it.

And that's a fair estimate of what it's actually worth.
But all he needs is one person to fall in love with it, who plans to drive it til the wheels fall off (or the air ride goes **** up, lol), they won't care about the title.

I got my '96 LSC (black on black), one owner with 130k on the clock for 2 grand even.
And that's about what it's worth. Clear-coat was shot, but it was love at first drive. :D

Interesting point... In Florida it's the same. Salvage tittle is only issued due to flood damage, accident damage, roll over, etc... but not due to theft.... Unless it was completely stripped & replacing missing parts was more costly than the car is worth so it was declared a total loss. That being said, this car may have a ton of parts that came off another Mark.

Most places have a 30 day limit on an automotive theft. If you file a claim for a stolen vehicle, and it is not recovered within a month, they label it a "total loss" and pay you for it. At that time, the car is salvaged. If it turns up another month later, it could be in mint condition but it will still have a branded title.
