G-RELL
FULLY DIPPED LS
if nothing else we should look for a spot to relocate it!!!!!!! mount the b!tch right on top.
The problem is the typical "beefing up" horks up the computer control of the alternator, hence why the aftermarket ones are so disappointing.
Ok so i can see about 1/4 of the sleeve sticking out , should i try to push it in ? Before i keep trying ??????
The gen II alternator isn't PCM controlled like the gen I alternator.
So getting a beefier alt with the gen II (and doing a big 3) will actually show gains in voltage stability (if lets say you were thinking about installing some really big subs...)
This isnt possible with the LS (maybe a couple) but just something i was looking at. Appears to be professionally done with a fuse block and good tension on the belt.

Hope it was a motorcraft alt! LOL
Anyone got an old Gen2 alternator laying around? I want to drop it off at the shop and see what he can do with it.
yes it was a motorcraft ,tomorrow ill be going to a place here in houston where they rebuild the old cores i dont want to blow 300+ on another motorcraft since i plan on selling the car later on...
well the alternator was tested in 3 diferent places and its working . now what else can i check ?????
Joegr all i know its i took the thing to autozone advance auto parts and another place were they rebuild alternators and they all say it was good . i dont know the details of how they test it . and now to make thing even better after i put it back in the car the belt start it to make noises and smells like burn so i think the alternator is lock up or something .. what a FUNNN DAY ...
No the battery light was not on the batt checks out good too and yes its going to be easy to get it out this timeI wish you would've asked before you put the old one back in. Because I would not have recommended it. Your troubles pointed to the alternator and since you had it out you should have changed it even though the people told you it was good. Oh well the more you do it the easier it gets![]()
I don't think you mentioned it, but was the battery light on the dash lit up when this first started happening?
My alternator was failing last July, and it checked out fine when tested. I think the alt tests aren't very useful if the alt is in the early stages of failure, because they will work properly most of the time.
