What purpose do these serve?

Meh, looks like my photoshop isn't working. Here ya go Moss.

After 5 years I noticed I was missing one. Picked up a pair of g1's and should've known better to double check g2 fitment. What purpose do they serve? I don't notice any difference between 1 g2 bumper vs 2 small (no hood contact) g1 bumpers when pressing down on it. The actual adjusting mounts seem to take care of any slack.

Was it easier to steal a pic vs charging my battery, walking outside, unlocking car, popping the hood and taking a sub par picture with my crappy camera?

They just keep alittle preload on the hood so it does not flap around.

they do serve an important role. On a gen 2 with an aluminum hood if the hood is floppy and loose for a long period of time it will put stress on the aluminum around the latch striker and could cause it to crack over time.
