One of my front speakers is blown thanks to my daughter listening to dubstep. I think I just want to refoam it. Anybody know the actual size of the front door speakers or even what foam I need to order?

If you have the Alpine 6 system, you need a 5 1/4" foam.....the alpine in there is a 5 1/4" mid with a 1" tweeter mounted on a 6"x8" plate. I have never refoamed a speaker,so im not sure how they sound after repair. I would change both for a set of Pioneer 6"x8" 3ways. They are 40 watts rms and would be a perfect stock replacement.....$52 per pair with free shipping on ebay (model TS-A6874R)

either that or I can hook you up with the Alpine speakers for cheap. They're just sitting around here.

I don't think I have the alpine system, but how do I tell for sure? It's a 2003 LS8 with 6 CD in dash with a regular green LCD display.

well you would have the THX if I remember correctly. Gen I's had Alpine and Gen II's had the THX system. I probably should have looked at your sig first  If you want quality I would go aftermarket. I have some kickers in mine and I love the quality, that and they wont break the bank.

If you have the tiny speakers in the center console and the subwoofers in the rear deck, then you have the alpine 12 speaker system

Ok let me clarify. I got myself confused and posted the wrong info. If you have a Gen I (2000-2002) and you have the "premium" audio package it is an ALPINE unit. If you have a Gen II and a "premium" package it is a THX. The speakers look the same but I can not speak to the total RMS or quality.

Try this link and you can costomize a 2003 which the OP has. http://autos.aol.com/cars-Lincoln-LS-2003-V8_Premium_Sport__4dr_Sedan/options/

THX only came with the navigation system option. It was a "ten" speaker setup, not twelve.

I agree with joegr. THX was only offered with the Navi system. Mine is an 03 V8 premium sport and according to the original window dealer sheet, it has an Alpine premium system.

Oh don't worry Joegr has already proven me wrong in another thread. Thats what I get for thinking I know the LS's audio system. Time for me to do a bit more homework before I open my fat mouth again :shifty:

Mine is an '03 Premium sport. It does have speakers in the console with the 6 CD head. Is that the Alpine system? So 5 1/4" foam? I'd like to disassemble/fix it in one day.

Should be easy. There are TONS of guides to refoaming speakers on the internet. Just make sure to clean the metal frame really well (I generally use a box cutter blade) and use a tacky glue (it absorbs the vibrations better). Aleene's tacky glue is some of the best stuff. My uncle is a speaker repair man down in Nashville and runs a pretty big ebay business. If you buy your surround from him/her (my aunt) you will be well taken care of. Their customer service is amazing. I know this because I've watched them do it lol. The kits they sell come with everything you need including the glue so I would definitely check it out. You will probably have to contact them to get a proper surround since they normally sell by brand for home speakers. I would imagine they would have something though. Their stock room is stupid big haha
