wont start. replaced drivers side valve cover gasket and 8 coils and spark plugs year ago. started misfiring again recently replaced passenger side valve cover gasket and one coil and spark plug that had a little oil in it. did not fix misfire had code read misfire cylinder 8 replaced coil and spark plug. hard started but started ran fine on test drive restarted a minute later rough idle then felt like something was chocking it off til it died. now it wont start just cranks lately every once in a while it would hard start.

Fuel Pump? Just did mine, and I have a 2002 v8 ls too. I think it was kind of a common issue, its actually a super easy fix

Agreed!!! Sounds like lack of fuel. What coils did you use? Ebay? If they keep failing, might need to get some Visteons.

Fuel filter???? Crappy gas???? I had harder than normal starts and a roughish idle when I gave my LS a steady diet of Costco or Vons gas. I switched back to the Top Tier brands and all has been well since.

i dont think its a bad gas rough idle its a rough idle like engine shaking gasping idle. i replaced the fuel filter yeaterday no luck. the coils were bought off ebay but i think it might be something deeper. however the one replaced was bought at oreilieys. after checking connections and countless starts i can smell gas in the front of the car so it seems that it is getting gas.

if you give it a little gas will it run? maybe the IAC if it won't idle, but will start if you press down on the peddle some. If you have a fuel pressure gauge that will tell you right away if the pump is working.

Is everything buttoned up on the air intake? My car will not run without it on.

I figured he might not have needed to move it much and therefore didn't unplug everything. Just throwing some other possibilities out there.

solution found maybe

after not wanting to start all week i went out the garage and looked at one more time before i had a wrecker take it to a shop tomorrow. i tried starting it wouldnt start so where i have cranked alot in this week the battery was getting low so i hooked my wifes car to charge the battery a little bit. After letting it sit i tried to start and it acted if it wanted to start so i let it sit and tried again. this time it started and ran for a sec then died. it went on like this for a few minutes then i heard something from the rear "buzz" (i did not hear this nor was i listening for it) it was the fuel pump priming. when it primed car started no problem and ran fine i let it run for an hour and had no problems. car will start now but when fuel pump doesnt prime it will start and misfire feeling and sputter. but when it primes no problem. so im now it look as though i will be replacing the fuel pump and hopefully it will fix it. i will post after fixing to see if it works. does this seem like the problem or relay going bad?

I had the same problem... I would have to cycle the key 20-50 times and listen for it to prime... after several trips to the dealer.. They found a loose wire going to the fuel pump / sender.. fixed the connector, started for years since... check your wiring first

fixed hopefully

i popped the back seat and looked at the pumps for loose wires then i checked with a scanner got a code for p1235 Fuel Pump Control Out Of Range replaced fuel pump relay and it started right up and everytime since. Only time will tell if this is the solution or a temp fix
