Ok so I brought this up before and still haven't fixed it. When my LS is either stone cold and has sat all day, or if its still hot it starts perfectly. If I run it then let it set maybe an hour it'll crank for quite awhile then start. It usually helps to give it a bit of throttle...a few guys said it was because I wasn't running high test but that didn't make any difference. I need to pull the IAC off and make sure its working as a buddy of mine said it may be that. We've checked fuel pressures and they are right....any other ideas?

Mine started doing this just after a local mechanic did a bunch of work to my 2000 LS8.

He did new coils/plugs/gaskets/fuel filter, and I changed the fuel pump 6 months ago to a Walbro.

Kind of strange, I did Visteon coils; wonder if it has to do with them somehow? Runs like a champ otherwise.

You will need a permanent diet of 91+ octane. I experienced tougher than normal starts when I was using Costco and Vons gas. After a dozen or so tanks of the good stuff (91+ Top Tier gas) my car is back to normal.

he hoped enough that it wasn't, or perhaps with a stethoscope, I know you can listen after it shuts down for a dripping noise correct?

You put the stethoscope on each injector after shutdown and listen for the sound of liquid flowing (any sound really, but not actually dripping).

ah I was close, I am also doing this as i have a similar issue. I shall report back with my findings

As for the gas, I run Sunoco 92 all the time. Not a huge inconvenience with long cranking time, just kind of funny...
