I generally assume that all skips/rough runs/etc are coil related, how about this?

I am getting a bit of a rough run/skip at a VERY specific RPM range and throttle position. I narrated the video in case the camera shaking wasn't indication enough. I initially picked up on this little issue when cruising about 50 MPH(~1700 RPM), since the converter is locked at that speed it was shuddering a bit.

I had 6/8 coils replaced about 6 months ago under warranty( why they didn't get all 8 remains a mystery when the stealership gets money from ford for the recall work )

Now the kicker is, I have a K&N FIPK kit on it. I cleaned, then replaced the MAF sensor when this started happening. I am confident it is properly installed and no unmetered air is entering the engine.

Questions:

The last time I had coils going bad, the skips were under all throttle ranges. This is happening only under *very* light throttle and at a very specific RPM range. Should I still look at coils first?

I have about 2k miles left on the warranty recall period. Will the stealership refuse to properly diagnose the skip and/or refuse to do the coil replacement under the recall with the aforementioned FIPK kit installed? I'll put the stock stuff back on if I HAVE to, but I would rather not if it can be avoided.

Thanks again guys.

Put the stock stuff back on. Make sure there is no trace of tampering. Then, take it into the dealer before the warranty runs out. This way, you will have a record of the complaint before the end of the warranty and they will have to honor the warranty even after expiration.

I have the exact same thing on my 2003 V8, very occasionally. Most often on slight uphill grades at the same RPM as in your video. Has to be the coils..

It is. They are failing, slowly.

Rampart! We have a 2003 Lincoln LS V8 with BP 2000 over 1500, temp is at 175. Please advise!

Yeah 51, start a pump of Premium Unleaded 93 Octane and advise patient not to ingest 91 Octane from RaceTrac Stations when the ambient temperature is 80 or above.

10-4 Rampart!

My car did the exact same thing at the same speed (around 50 mph, very very light throttle). I noticed it almost immediately after installing the K&N intake. I cleaned the MAF but no luck. I changed all 8 coils/plugs and it is a lot better now. It still seems like my transmission is confused though. It is not sure when/if to downshift.

Fear not. I will be ordering a set of Visteons and new plugs once my wiper motor gasket is fixed (just noticed it's leaking a chitload of water!) under program 07N09.

I looked up Lincoln LS on Amazon and I got result listings for coils. Very inexpensive.
