I was wondering If anyone has stock muffs with a x pipe? how much louder is a LSC without the resonator? does the resonator keep both pipes separate all the way through (and what is the purpose of it anyway).

I cut off my mufflers and love the sound, hate the drone at cruising speed, but hate the sound of the hay wagon, i was wondering how much louder the x pipe would be with the stock mufflers compared to just no mufflers. thanks!

I put just some Magnaflow mufflers on the rear of the car a little while ago, and this summer I cut out the resonator and replaced it with a striaght pipe to see if I could make it a bit louder.
Well, it did next to nothing for how loud it is, but it does drone slightly more... ;)

Don't cut off your resonator, if you have a gen II unless you have a 2 in 2 out muffler or some mufflers for the rear.. It is insanely loud and a bad loud at that. sounds like $hi+... seriously. look up my threads, i have a video of what it sounds like... seemed slower without the resonator, and yes it will just be 2 single pipes all the way back... I did the dynomax ultra flo X .. its a 2 in 2 out muffler with an x pipe built in.. i have no resonator and no rear mufflers just straight 2.5 in. pipe and the muffler in the middle... best sound i have heard yet come out of a mark vii!

Your talking about the "dual converter y-pipe" (third cat) 98Cobra...

I forgot that on the LSC's (dual exhaust) they don't have a resonator, just the third cat, so normohl was probably talking about the cat too, sorry guys...

so whats the verdict should i get an x pipe and take the 3rd cat out? and go with no muffs or stock muffs or some cheap glasspacks or something, i want less drone but louder than stock. fyi i have no yet ran the pipes to the back of the car from where i cut the mufflers off either. dont know how much of a diff. that makes.

I took the 3rd cat out and installed a X pipe. It is only slightly louder outside the car. You wouldn't even notice it if you hadn't heard it before.

This is with leaving the stock mufflers on it.

But I have a set of elect. cut outs on it. :)

ill go with the x pipe and some glasspacks thanks. (any specific brand people like?)

warthog are those the lower point of your car?

Everything is tucked up pretty darn tight. They don't hang down, if that's what you mean.
