After an episode being the DD last night my left rear window is broke. I'm not sure what is wrong with it. It will roll down, but it make this horrible creeeeeeeeeekkkkk sound. It WON"T roll up, but when I'm pushing the button you can definitely hear the motor running in the door. Anybody got any thoughts. I'd like to know if it's a quick fix or not.

i had the same issue with my drivers door window.. you might want to pull off the door panel and check to see if its on track... if the rear is anything like the front you can loosen the two clamps and manually place the window all the way up.. after that use the power window to roll up the clamps all the way... tighten the clamps through the holes in the door frame and tuh-duh...

perve...

Seems these cars have lots and lots of "Knowen" problems.. :(

The earlier the model, the more problems. But as known problems with known fixes, its not too much trouble to diagnose and repair. Its yet another reason why the last 2006 model is the best one of the entire production.

SVince, what year is your car? Early models (e.g., 00-01 models) used plastic clips to connect the window regulator to the motors. Those clips broke quite frequently. Later models used metal clips which would not break. Swapping out the broken plastic clips with new metal ones is not a big deal.

Sounds like the problem I had last weekend with my 2000 LS. The back passenger side window went down and would not go back up. The motor would run, but the window did not move. It was the regulator (surprise)! It cost $150 at the Lincoln dealer to fix. The part is about $50 and $100 for labor. I believe all of the window regulators have been replaced in this LS except for the passenger side front.

sounds like it fell off track due to a broken part of the regulator.. had this exact problem, window rolled down, try to roll it up creeking noise. i pulled the window up from there, then rolled the regulator up by pulling the window up button, and the regulator stopped when it met the bottom of the window and has been working fine ever since.. just my 2 cents
