wow, I drove a 94 mark 8 this past week, was a repo with lots of issues
and it stuck me lol

First got in it and door ajar was on the screen, got the wd 40 amd fixed that, whew hew I thougth, Next was ABS Light and Air bags was lit or flashing, and the Check charging system was on the screen, I reset it drove it to the my brother in laws whos it was (he ownes a wrecker service and got the car on a repo or something like that) He put a battery tester on it and it was fine running like 14 volts, and then the check charging system did not come back on. I drove it and the enviormental controls power would go on and off when you changed gears. No big deal, Well it also had those low profile tires on funkie rims (rode like crap felt every bump)

The same crap showed up every morning I started and drove the car, along with the abs lights and air bags, enviromental system on and off and check charging system would come on. Then after a few resets it would not do it again. Same thing 9 days in a row, plus a 178 mile road trip Oh also car always stayed freakishly cool never even coming into the Normal range.

Well on the drive home, left 5pm ish with 178 miles to go first time I started it same ole same ole abs and air bags and check charging system, few miles all went away.

Oh lets say 80 or miles later, (with no enviromental power but dash lights lit the buttons) The dash lights went off, the radio got kind of scrachie and powered down, The check voltage system light and abs came on, the fuel gage went to straight up way past full, the windshield washers squirted the windows and the car died. I pulled it over and the battery was bubbling and smoking. I left the hood open for about an hour (on the side of the road North bound 75 in Ohio 2 miles from Beaverdam) figured I should put the flashers on, put them on then considered the battery condition and turned them off, sat and made a few calls for help, decided to leave a note for law enforcement and opend the glove box and it was flashing with the pace of the warning flashers that I had put on and turned off an half hour earlier, Got out and belive it or not the interior lights were flashing at the same speed,

Very strange huh.

Made me glad to come home and get in mine (abe)

Sounds like a bad batt, loose ground and bad alt or some combination of. But fixable!
