It didn't make sense why my wipers worked fine in every mode but off. But there's a plastic part under the crank arm called a windlatch, and when it breaks, the crank arm won't park the wipers properly. I replaced the whole motor assembly, assuming the cause was an electrical problem inside the motor. The windlatch has a nub sticking up called a parking tip, and when the windlatch breaks, the parking tip won't engage the crank arm to guide it to the park position. I had no luck trying to buy the windlatch separately. Rebuilt motor costs about $45 with a $30 core charge. Also, don't pull your hood (on Gen2), there's 5 bolts holding the whole tray in. There's no clearance to pull the motor otherwise. I took about an hour start to finish, but glad to not be riding around with wipers up. Good luck with yours.

this usually affects the intermittent setting on the wipers also since it dont know where the wipers are to start timing the delay
