Looking for winter tires now that I found out that I almost cannot get up steady slopes from a stop coming home from work.

I'm looking for tires for the stock 17" rims.

BUT

I would rather like some 16" donuts, so I can get a deeper tread in the snow. Do you guys know the bolt spacing (in mm) or any other cars that have the same bolt pattern / spacing?

16" are a LOT more common tire, and cheaper too. PLUS, I can save myself money in the long run by not having to mount and re mount 2x a year.
 
Volvo's, Ferrari... Not sure what else. Blizzaks are good winter tires.

I would look into some Volvo wheels for the winter if you want 16's.
 
I just put on the 235/55r/17 Blizzak LM 22 only on the rears a week ago. Best rated performance snow tire out there. Definately not the cheapest at $170 a tire, but you will not be disappointed.
 
Those wont help you in the snow. Get a cheap set of 16's with some snow tires if you wanna stay along those lines.

Or just get a good snow tire for the 17's. Unless you wanna save the 17's from the harsh winter its a reasonable rout to take. You dont need a smaller wheel to get deeper tread.

I would just buy a cheapo set like this and stick snow tires on it. That would be the safest thing. That is a link to a set that would be $350 shipped, then just buy the skinniest snow tires you can.

Or, I just called discount tire, and they said for just under $800, they will get you a set of 16" wheels and hankook snow tires. That's a really good deal for brand new set of wheels and tires.
 
I got a hookup for 16" blizzaks for $25 a piece, so I'm just looking for some BS 16" cheap donuts to slap on during winter.
 
When you say donuts, it reminds me of the tiny ass spare wheel. Get those ones Nic pointed out, and throw the Blizzak's on them. Then go to home Depot, and buy 5 60lb. bags of quickcrete. That's what I have in the trunk. Just put it in there yesterday, and man, what a difference!

The limited slip should finally be going in pretty soon. Then I'll be set :D

Factory spec?

I dont know if you'll find steel rims like that at a decent price cause of the bolt pattern. I dont know, maybe you should look into some of the Volvo wheels like I said and see what types have cheap hub caps, under those cheap hub caps are plain old steel wheels in most cases.
 
I tried to find steel wheels in our bolt pattern. The place I found here in my town wanted 50 bucks each. That set he posted was 199, so I figured it was a cheap price for them.

And I can do $50 a wheel :D now only if it was somewhere close to me and Nic
 
And if you just need something to get by with your all-season tires, do the qwikcrete bags in your trunk. 300 pounds ran me about 25 bucks.
 
And I dont have all seasons, they're cheap assed summer firestones that were 75$ a piece brand new...

The lowest I found is 75$ so yeah I would take those if you could do 50$ a wheel.

They are factory Lincoln wheels so.... go at it with style I guess.

Have you tried the local tire shops? A lot of times they can search them down for you. just tell them 16" 5x108 bolt pattern, and see what they come up with.
 
The WS series of Blizzaks are pretty cheap. They are the best winter tire on the market. Not for performance though; they don't handle as well and don't have the speed rating of the LM-22's... BUT, they do grab better on snow and ice than the LM-22. I've used both, currently run the LM's on my LS. Parents use the WS50's on their volvo... WS are much more affordable.
 
Called my uncle about what kind of deals he could get, TOTALLY spaced out on the fact that the thunderbird and LS have the same bolt pattern / suspension!

I found a pair of 4 15" thunderbird wheels WITH blizzaks on them already for $250, will the 15" fit at all on my LS? at least in back?
 
Suspension? Are you sure? I found adjustable coilovers for the T-Bird.

I don't think so, but my uncle knows how to adjust the speedo somehow.

So will 15's fit on front and back?
