my ls in an 03 v8 sport with the 17" wheels obviously, i want to get new snow rims with tires. what size tires and rims should i get. i would like to get 16'' rims if possible just because its prob more expensive for the 17" cheap ass rims. what do you guys with snow tires run with?

just get a set of blizzaks or winterforce on used 16" ls wheels. maybe a few bags of cement if its extra slick!
i still (barely) made it home during a nasty storm here in new england last year. the average commute took 6 hours, mine usually takes 10 minutes and it took 3.5 hours. that included getting out to push a mercedes that was stuck. it was that real slushy, tread clogging type stuff. i had my g-force kdws's on at the time and still got home so this car should be fine with a decent set of snow tires and a half decent driver. the advancetrac does wonders for unexpected slipping while cornering, but you may need to turn it off to "burn out" your way up a hill. the limited slip rearend mod would also do wonders.

I just put a set of General altimax arctic snows on a set of Mark VIII 16 in rims for mine, the tires made a huge differnece, we just got a bunch of snow and they had no problems going through it at all. Now be warned, the Mark VIII rims barely fit, there is clearance issues with the front calipers, I still need to get some spacers so that I can put a full brake pad back on, I had to change back to the set that I had just taken off doing a brake job.

I use my stock 8 spoke chrome 17" wheels with 4 snow tires for winter driving. Get tires that are slightly narrower than stock something around 215's.
Also I put 4 50lb bags of landscaping rocks in the trunk behind both wheelwells. 5 bucks each.
You can use sand bags but they spill easier and for me I just add the rocks to my gardens in the spring.
Got a posi rear end to put in but it's more for the Turbo.

I have the stock 2001 16" rims with 215/60 Cooper Weather-Master S/T2 tires. I ran these tires last winter and had no real issues, felt very safe in the nasty stuff. I'm up here in Minnesota, and as most people know we don't have the best weather in the winter :) .
