Who here has a seperate winter car to protect there LS from the harsh winters. This winter coming up is going to be the first one with my lincoln and i am afraid that the road salt and whatever else will start to make my paint look crapy. So exactly how harsh is winter on car? And does anybody have any tips to protect our investments.(i know cars aren't much of an investment especially american ones)

ps do all of you go to car washes in the winter to take off all the dirt and grime and if so is it the automatic car washes or the one where you do it yourself? is the automatic ones safe? sorry for all the questions

my experience with winters. get car washed regularly expecially with undercarriage to get all the salt and crap out from underneath the car. I prefer to hit a no touch car wash because my car is black and the touch washes are instant swirl creators for me. keep in mind that the no touch washes usually will melt all your wax off within the first wash or 2 due to the harsh chemicals. additionally, they CAN cause that strange spotting in the back glass. if you have a dark car, 5 minutes after you leave the car wash any water left (dripping from mirrors, etc.) will instantly turn bright white and look like crap. also be sure to wipe out inside the door jams real good afterwards if temp is below freezing to keep your doors from freezing shut.

spring will be around soon then you can put some wax back on...if you have my luck you'll hit something at least once during the winter and have a rental for the rest of the season:)

i have a volvo that i will most likely be driving whenever there is snow and/or salt on the roads. We also have my wife's Pacifica. I won't be driving the Lincoln necessarily due to not wanting to get it dirty, but more for the fact that there is no reason to drive a heavy RWD vehicle in the snow when i have a FWD and AWD to choose from instead. I want to try the LS in the snow at least once, though, just to see how it handles it.
