Hey guys. Yeah, I know common issue.
We're original owners of a 2003 LS V8 Auto w/Premium Sport Pkg which has given us good service but starting to have the typical issues. (We used to have a 2001 LS as well.)
Just had the passenger door regulator blow apart so it's time to change them all as to not get surprised. But this vehicle was built 5/03 and when looking up the regulator assemblies with from Tasca or Rock Auto come up with the issues of the build date and availability. It looks like 7/03 is a job change (2004 expectedly), but the '03 seems to be an odd and expensive duck.
Your can get Dorman or Motorcraft regulator assemblies for both the earlier and later LS at reasonable prices (~$60), but when you look at 2003 the drivers side is not available and the passenger side is in the $150 to $200 range. Tasca actually does give you a drivers side option, but that also is in the $150 range.
I've searched this site, but don't see anyone else bringing up this issue. Any experience with this situation?
