My drivers side front window finally took a poop on me today. I called around and got different prices. The dealer gave me a price of $115, but said that DOESNT include the motor. It was my understanding that the motor is part of the assembly, all one piece. If not, what would the part be that they are quoting me $115? The window is stuck halfway down and need to get in replaced today.

Another side note, the window wont move past halfway, how do i get it to the position to loosen the clamp bolts?

try putting the window up with the key in your driver side door just to verify it is the motor or regulator. I had this happen but it ended up being the switch, as far as if the motor is included I don't know I'm sure someone like Joe will chime in about it.

I know that the motor is not included with the regulator on gen II. I suspect that the same is true for gen I.

It's almost always the regulator, and not the motor that fails.

Take the door skin off and detach the regulator/motor assembly. Once you get the motor off the regulator, you should be able to move the window. If you see that the regulator is trashed, then just cut the window cables and you can move the window.

This may sound dumb but what is considered the regulator? The assembly has a left and right bracket/guide, pulley and wires, motor. On the pic below is the motor just the grey cylinder? And attached to that is the regulator? Is that whole grey deal in upper right the regulator? Confused? I can hear the motor move and the window will go try to go up maybe an inch or so but it reverses back down and gets hung up halfway. Made the usual crunch sound and then wont move.

The motor is the gray flattened cylinder. Everything else is the regulator. On gen II, the motor and gear are attached to the regulator with three screws. I can't tell from the picture if your gen I is the same.

That picture isnt of mine, pulled from anothers post.

This pic shows the "motor" and the regulator, that clears that up.

In This Pic what is the big black thing on the right? Is that attached somehow?
