why do mark viii's lean to one side??

ive noticed that with both of my mark viii's... the car leans to the driver side

is this a ride height sensor thing??.. or is it because the driver side handles more weight over the life of the car??

even after i converted my last mark to springs it still leaned to the driver side.

an obvious 1" or 2" difference in height..
 
My car leans to the driver side as well. I have concluded that it is because the drivers side IS heavier somehow. I have gauges on each bag, and it takes more pressure on the drivers side to level the car... even without me in it...
 
My Mark sits pretty much level, the variance side-to-side is under 1/2"

The driver's side is definitely, without a doubt heavier. The battery, power distribution block and related wiring; power steering; oil filter and adapter; coolant, washer, power steering and brake fluid reservoirs; steering column; gauge cluster; PCM; EDIS module (-96); DSM; RKEM; CD Changer; ABS HCU and module and more all reside on the driver's side of the vehicle. And though by themselves they would not make a large difference, when you add it all together there is quite a bit more. Of course the passenger side still has it's share of components, but in comparison there is far less weight. IMO at least ;)
 
mine is less than half inch lower on the drivers side.


now...the time the height sensor popped off the passenger side....it was slightly uneven. LOL
 
mine is 14 7/8" from center of wheel to fender on driver side...

16" from center of wheel to fender on passenger side...

are selonoids not venting properly ???
 
You can adjust it a bit by moving the sensors. There is a slot in which they slide up or down. My passenger side was higher as well when I first bought mine. Now after sensor lowering it and adusting the front sensors several times to get it just right it sits perfectly level side to side and I have the rear about an inch & a half higher for that mean stance. I would try adjusting one of the front sensors, Either lower the right side a bit or raise the left side. At least you can adjust it with the air ride vs the coils. With the coils you are stuck with a leaning ride!

i'll have to try that.. you're one helpful person Turbo

i just figured maybe because both of my cars looked like no one ever sat in the passenger side the driver side would lean due to stress over the years.. gues its more complicated than that
 
on mine its like 1/4 inch difference...........when i got it, the alignment was off a bit on the back and after i got back it seemed to help it, but it still leans slightly to the driver side, even with the coil conversion.........my friends cant see it though they call me crazy :D until i measure it out..........lol :p
 
You will only find that slight lean condition on both the "Taladega" and "Daytona" special editions.

Thanks, It could be from just the driver over the years. Who knows what causes this issue? :confused: All I know is that it drove me nuts & I had to make it level. Before you start adjusting the sensors I would mark there position with a line of paint or make a scratch with a sharp tool. Just incase you are not happy with the results you can always put it back to its exact location. Also, Do not over tighten the nuts or the stud will easily snap off! I did this but I also had extras so I was lucky!

You got any pics of the car up yet?

and also obsolete if i recall correctly

i also adjusted mine when i sensor lowered it, also theres only 1 in the back, so you will have to adjust the front 2 to compensate
 
i broke 1 of mine right after i bought it and found the stud to be obsolete. so i drilled and tapped a hole and put a screw in it.
 
from all those hard launches at the track twisting the unibody.slow and steady wins the race

i was lucky mine just took the threads off of the inside of the stud, so i was able to throw on a couple washers and catch some threads, but i feel next time im screwed, i might try vr4's method next time
 
Next time your at the pic a part just grab a couple of them. That's what I did just in case I might need them one day, and I did!
