Think I worded that decently.

There is a white first gen on a side street in front of a house that I don't think has moved in over a year. The front is slammed, rear is still up, has a small dent in driver door, and dusty. Paint, however, looks good, good grill, etc. Unsure on interior.

Everytime I go by,at all different hours, it is there sitting. I am starting to consider knocking on some doors to find the owner. Thinking a bag blew, or compressor crapped out, got a repair estimate and said screw it.

So you guys who have bought cars they found sitting, how did you approach it? I am not sure if I should make it obvious I am an enthusiast, even though I would be pulling up in mine. Obviously I wouldn't offer much, what are some figures you guys have thrown out and had accepted. I am thinking $400-$500 range if it isn't destroyed.

Edit, I screwed up the title.

Leave em a note inquiring about "that mark7, wanting some parts for sale for your elderly grandmothers car/hood/fenders/ect"..since it looks like the sold the front shocks....haha

that should properly exclude you from appearing an enthusiast...lol

hopefully they will return your call, and tell you they arent selling parts but you can have the whole car for (Xamount)

Hopefully it wouldn't backfire and they think I some idiot who thinks it has springs.

Think it would be better than hitting the door? Makes sense, in case they think they are being put on the spot.

I have made lots of offers on lots of cars... it never hurts to ask... unless they are angry and have guns...

My only other option would be to park down the street and walk. Not in the greatest neighborhood, don't want to find an empty space where mine was.

I leave notes on mark viii's all the time. I have never got a call back but im sure I will eventually. I REALLY want this lady locally to call me, shes got a super clean CE with under 50k miles.

I might just go knock on the door. I would leave a note, but if the car hasn't been touched in a long time, I doubt a note will be noticed anytime soon. Supposed to snow next week and that would make the note disappear.

Besides, I am very impatient. I like immediate answers.

Exactly. If they say no, maybe I can atleast point them to the site, and get it running. Just hate driving by it weekly and seeing it sit.
