Hey all, anybody out there run across this? There's a canister type thing with some pipes running to and from it mounted up against the firewall on the passenger side. I'm assuming it's A/C related and therefore off my radar as the A/C in my ride has never been functional. The damn thing makes a very annoying buzz/whine while the car is running and when you shut the car off the sound peters out gradually. Kind of sounds like somebody squeezing one off on the down low, y'know? What is this thing and how do I make it shut the hell up?

Did you look to see if the A/C compressor is turning? If you are running the compressor, the no A/C can be caused by a faulty blend door motor. The receiver/drier will make those noises if the compressor is working.

Is that what that is? There is a hardline right from the compressor to that canister. Unless the AC is turning itself on I don't see how that compressor could be running...although, I did have my compressor seize up on my old '78 town car out of the blue. Just stopped freewheeling and smoked the belt (it had it's own). Thanks for the info, I'll take a closer look.

Double check the back seat for hidden passengers with gas.

Also, locate actual source of the wine. There's a few vacuum lines there that may have a bad fitting or lines with a pin hole.
