Getting ready to buy an intake which one would some of you recommend? I have a custom tune by Torrie so not sure if getting an intake will affect anything does anyone know?

69 Series Typhoon - 14.3 HP @ 4500 RPM

57 Series Aircharger - 15.69 HP @ 6000 RPM

I don't think you will see much of a difference with either one. If anything I would imagine the plastic 57 would heat soak less then the aluminum one. Buy the one that looks nicer.

those numbers are bull, all you get from a cold air is the nice sound and look you wont feel a difference.

These are not Marks. While I will not say the HP claims are true I will say I can walk my friend 05 LS with the K&N 57 where we were dead even stock for stock.

I've never had one, but have been in cars that do & I can say there was no question it made a difference. It's common sense that more air increases performance so I'd have to say it does do something... It may not make a huge increase, but to say it does nothing is false IMO. To further back my claim I've seen a car on a dyno before & after & for it being bull the numbers sure said otherwise...

I'm not a car expert & don't claim to be just looking for input on which one people prefer.

Heat soak really doesnt matter, the air is moving to fast most of the time for it to do anything. Plus its not really a "cold air intake" since it is still located in the engine bay. Id say 5-8hp if anything. I got mine for looks, then hacked the engine bay apart and covered the intake tube in thermo tech heat wrap anyways.

I wondered why one got one more hp than the other and someone on here told me the plastic one, 57 series, heats up less, so I guess the heat soak does affect it slightly. I can assure you you will feel a difference. I dont know how much hp but you can feel it. I have the typhoon and I like the look of it. To me, the 57 blends in too much and the black is a little dull.

Speaking of heat does it matter that I live in Las Vegas which gets pretty damn hot? I've been reading threads on here & people seem to say the car won't run good when it's hot out. I would be getting the one with the heat shield, but some don't think that matters...

Some say having the filter down in the bumper helps a lot some said it made their car lag on acceleration. I will it out this summer to see myself

Did you ever get this mod done?

This guy has a custom one pulling air from the front bumper pretty much like Alex does I think. Anyone know if this works better?

Which one did you go with? I'm thinking about buying one soon also. Seems like its basically going to come down to whether I want chrome, or no chrome.

i personally like the 57 better, the aluminum one just sticks out too much, and is way too shiny, there is nothing else under the hood that matches it, if one where to have more bright shiny aluminum trim parts, then i could see getting the typhoon, but other wise the 57 just seems to match the car a lot better
