I need to replace my pads, and might as well get a good set that won't wear out super fast with my style of driving (I drive like I'm still on the race track usually, so long as nobody else is around).

So which pads should I look at? I thought carbotech, but they don't make an application for the LS. I kinda want to avoid Hawk blues, they're more suited to the track/autocross due to their dust and noise. I don't know much besides hype about the EBC pads, so...

Also, same Q for the rotors, are OEM sufficient, or should I go with powerslot? I've had issues on my OEM rotors in heavy rain (or horizontal rain) where after a while, the brakes would feel like they were hydroplaning on the rotor and like NOT stop at all, I don't know if it was just water inside the pads that was outgassing as it heated up, or if it was literally water on the rotor/pad face that wasn't being driven off. If I held the brake down for a few seconds, it'd clear right up and work for the next few seconds, but maybe 30 seconds later the problem was back.

Ive heard Porterfields are good Quik uses them. I havent changed mine yet thanks to brake problems underwarranty. When I change mine Ill probably go with those Im not sure about rotors yet though.

Sounds like you are looking at performance pads so what I say probably does NOT APPLY to your question.

About 4000 miles ago, I changed my front pads to the Pep Boys, I think Prostop brand pads(their best). They squeal like a pig. To be fair I did NOT resurface the rotor but did the fingernail test. I just bought some Raybestos pads for the front and will see if they work better. Visually the Raybestos are much nicer looking pads with better metal work and the anti squeal shim is some sort of slick plastick feeling metal stuff. The Pep Boys had a lot of casting flash on the metal backing plate and the shim was just sheet metal of some sort. Should know how the Raybestos do in a weekend or two.

I replaced my rear pads with Raybestos a month back and I think they are OK but the squeel from the front drowns out any noise I might hear from the rear.

The raybestos front pads came with all the replaceable hardware plus grease, the Pep Boys just had pads. Whenever I have used Raybestos, I have never had a problem and always was impressed with the well finished look of their products. Sote brands are a gamble in my opinion.

Just my opinion, and will know soon if Raybestos pads are better.

I went with the Powerstop (NOT PowerSLOT) crossed drilled Rotors for another application which I addressed in your other thread. For pads I've never looked for a long lasting pad. Don't care to. IMO pads are not supposed to last (within reason of course), they are supposed to wear. I want performance and durability in my brake pads not longevity. I can wash the dust off, and change the pads more frequently, but if I absolutly have to stop RIGHT NOW, give me a softer pad. Same with tire, I don't want 80k mile tires, I want a softer performance tire that gives it self up rather then giving up grip. Besides, if the pads aren't wearing, the rotors are....
BTW, I have used Performance Friction pads on all my other vehicles with outstanding results, although I cannot testify that they make a pad for the LS as mine only has 7k on the clock....No need for brakes yet.
