Hello. I went to the exhaust shop today, a guy that has done my exhaust on every vehicle i own with pipes on. Well, I got the magnaflow X-Pipe resonator combo in one, and 2 bulletts off of summit, dynomax. I went to the exhaust shop today, and he put it up on the lift and we took a look at it, and seems like only the resonator will fit in place of the 3rd cat, and not enough room for the bullets after that, i mean there is room but the brace that crosses over the stock exhaust might be in the way and cause a rattle, especially with 2.5" pipes. What should i do here? He told me he could just remove the factory muffs and put the bullets in the rear, in place of the old muffs. What would be the downside (if any) of putting the bullets in place of the mufflers, instead of having them towards the middle right after the X-pipe/resonator combo? What would be the benefits (if any)? Will there be more drone if the bullets are places in the rear vs the middle? Is there a solution to the brace crossing the stock exhaust and fitment of the bullets? Any advice/comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated!! I'd like to get some input before 11am tomorrow morning because that's when my exhaust appointment is, lol. Thanks very much for any input!!

Plenty of people do exhaust with mufflers at the rear. There's a member that had glasspacks or something welded inside of his 4" tips at the rear. I can't speak from experience, but I would think with the magnaflow resonator and bullets at the rear, the drone would not be too bad.

On my 2nd Gen I have 2 bullets after the 3rd cat and then 2 more bullets attached to the stock tips.

Absolutely no drone and a nice sound under load but certainly not loud by any means (don't need to attract too much attention). It (for me) was the perfect combo. With just 2 bullets at the rear I had way too much drone. Now, with the added bullets behind the cat, not a whisper of drone in the cabin at any speed.

All 4 are Magnaflow SS 2-1/4" I think they were 14". We actually had to cut the endsdown to fit before the exhaust bends in front of the IRS. I dropped the complete exhaust from the manifolds back which made it much easier for welding. I stayed with the high quality factory pipes which made it slightly harder because they are 2" pipes so we used a bit more weld on the seams. I also had to grind down the ends of each muffler tube so we could get them closer together to match up with the stock 2 out cat. Kind of a hack job but looks awesome, fits great and sounds even better.

Too cold to take a pic but it looks killer. We even welded the 2 bullets after the cat together so there was no chance of vibration.

Have 4 mufflers on the car is not the best setup for performance... go with 2 bullets where your stock mufflers are...

Well, i got my magnaflow X-pipe/resonator in one, installed in place of my PLUGGED up 3rd cat, and went 2.5" all the way from right in front of the X-pipe/resonator all the way back, and put the 16" dynomax bullets in the stock location and then the stock tips right after and I LOVE IT!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! No resonance, no drone, just a nice, DEEP, finely tuned sounding exhaust, it reminds me so much of a ferrari or porsche or something like that, it sounds amazing, i love it. Not an annoying tuned sound, not too loud, but like a perfectly tuned sound, just real nice, deep, sweet sounding and when your standing behind it and rev it up gives a slight little pop just a little one and sounds cool as heck. I'm real happy with it, could be a tish louder but i'm sure the bullets will need to be broke in a little bit yet. I love it!! Thanks for everyone's tips, suggestions, and help, it's appreciated!!

Straight thru bullets! I would hardly call them 'mufflers'. Resonators is more like it.;)

It's still pretty quiet though!! Loud enough to tell it's running, loud enough to let people know u don't have a V6 under the hood! lol.

You are lucky your exhaust shop was willing to take off the 3rd cat, exhaust shops around here are spooked. The bullets will get louder as they "break in" as well. Did you get new tips as well or kept the stock 2nd gen ones?

Kept the stock tips, probably what helps give it a nice tuned sound as well. Everything's 2.5" until it hits the tips, so i'm assuming that changes the sound dramatically.

All exhaust shops around here are spooked as well, won't even let your car be in the shop without cats. But this guy has his own business doing radiators and exhaust. And for cash, he'll do anything you want him to! He's a real good guy, he's done exhaust on all my vehicles for years. Minnesota has no emissions testing either. So there's no way you could really ever get in trouble anyways. I left the other 2 cats on that are right on the manifolds. Eventually those will be gone after i get some tuning software and the headers, i figured they can stay on till i gety headers anyways.
