Having the LS while I did but yesterday all that changed. Was not planning on doing anything but I pulled into City Chevrolet and got looking at the Cobalt, than I got to test drive an SS SC and really liked it. Guy asked what they could do and I told him about my other unlucky tries and he was amazed by the stories and said let them look at my car(typical) and than he could see what they could do.

About 30 minutes later he came back saying it was looking great on my end and than they got me into the finance office where I went through everything in my head, going from no to yes, than no to yes for alittle bit. They said "how about you take it home for abit, get away from us and be able to see how the car would fit into your lifestyle sort to speak." I did not agree at first but than I was like, well it'll get me away, my LS would be fine and if I do not want the car than all I have to do is pretty much come back get out of the car and go to mine hop in and tell 'em no thanks and be gone easily.

Took it home, enjoyed it, had a few people want me to run them but the car at the time had under 20 miles and I am not about to rip on it reguardless if I do not take it or not. Got home and thought it over, gas mileage even though still premium grade was already reading 24 mpg, they filled it up w/ me there and I reset the mileage thing like in the LS. So good mileage, was going to be almost $70 cheaper in payment, was getting 14500$ for the LS.

So I went back and signed the paperwork. Ask if I would be returning it in a couple of days and they said "No sir, we already have the yes from the bank. Your problem w/ the other two is they do not sell like we do, which is true. City cause of its repitation has someone leaving in a car/truck/whatever every hour it seems(anyone remember the movie Days Of Thunder? Tom jacka$$ cruise was sponsored in it by City).

So yea, I have a new '07 SS SC, its red, 6-spd, racing leather seats and other nice things. Its going back in a few days to get the SC upgraded threw GM so I well have another 30-50hp outta the new setup. Got a nice deal w/ that so I went w/ it, could of gone to the stage 2 but figured that could come later. Got a 7 yr warranty aswell. Pretty happy w/ the decision, well miss the LS but hey, its was my choice and its the type of car for me.

Other things I am going to do is get the rear wing taken off and get a smaller one cause this one makes it look alright but its just too big for me. Other than that its just going to stay mostly stock, I like these kind of cars, just am not really into "ricing" it out. Maybe after can afford a second car this one well be a track pounder.

Probably won't be around here much anymore so good luck all w/ your LS'. Keep it clean, mean and prestine. Thanks Ken too, appreciate your good business aswell.

That's great man, did it come with the 18s? Those wheels on the SSs look great, kind of remind me of the AMG wheels on the earlier Benzes.

Yep, got the rims on it, did not like them atfirst but they do make the car look nice after you get used to them.

Well I hope you are happy with it.

Just understand its FWD and will never be as great a car as the LS or Marauder can be.

You'll be back. Something's gonna happen. ;)

Seriously, best of luck. I hope you're happy with it.

Chevy trash IMO! But as long as you got a good price, and have fun driving it, it sounds like a good deal.

Two completely different cars, so there is no comparison. They both have their strong points, but they are entirely different areas.

Enjoy your new ride.

Yea, two differently cars here, its what I want though and I have had nothing but FWD cars since I have been driving besides the LS, do not mind FWD cause the SS SC is a great handler and can be made even better.

Well try to get pics soon but my little digi cam has had it. I was taking pics of the LS a few days ago nonetheless and I dropped it and its not working great(hands were slipperly from just grabbing a quick drink and I did the grab it fast thing and boom). Its a piece of crap anyway.

Yea place your bets, I am sure this is gonna work but who knows, my LS is cursed and god knows what it is up too lol.

Right now the SS is sitting happily in the garage w/ a nice 8X miles. Have a ways to go before I well be feeling the true power of it.

Well, good luck and I hope you are happy+satisfied.
I for one have no desire to see the pictures of your bowtie.

Personally I would feel like I sold a good car to get a half polished turd, but then again I have not had any real happy times with GM products.
I won't even rent one after the last disaster with a Gran Am.

Maybe I will 'see' you later.

Thank you! Enjoy the ride and stick around! You don't have to own a Lincoln or Cadillac to be a member here.

As for the car being a pos, well there is an opinion and I laugh at most on here. The Ecotec engines are great engines, I absolutely loved my 2.2L in the '03 cavalier I had. All my chevys, all cavaliers 88' z24, '90 z24, '97 coupe and the '03 coupe never gave me any problems but typical upkeep. I mean not a problem! None fell apart, actually my '88 z24 looked showroom condition until I sold it in '04 and that car alone here gave a new rise to it, I meet alot of people who could not believe how nice it was and next thing most got one, which I thought was truly great, I mean its a cavalier after all.

So I am not worried about this car, I well have it taken in regularly for all its checks, even got 2 yrs free for every service in that time frame and a great warranty on everything so if I do have alittle problem its taken care of.

I have decided to pretty much stay away from here, way to many people get their panties in a bunch just cause someone moved on. Granted if I could afford both I would of kept it but it does not matter, it was getting to me how things on it just turned to crap, little things that should not break did and the whole worrying eveytime I turned the key if they engine would do something. The noises it made and the overrall cheapish interior besides the leather. Yea I have a cheap interior in mine to some but my car also has a reason, its half of what the LS cost.

I just pray it goes away from the dealer, like an auction because I do not want to see what idiot ends up w/ it. Who knows, maybe the next owner well find their way here, I meant to leave a note in the LS book for them to find to direct them here and to LSKoncepts.

Hey Beamer,
I voiced my own personal opinion of all GM products (well okay not the Vette or the GTO), but that was all it was. I think you would be welcome to stick around.
Things that you know about the LS could help others, (like the person that buys yours).

Who knows, maybe we could even woo you back here with another cool LS.

But, I sold Chevys for 10 months and watched too many of those 3.8 monte's and ecotec cavaliers get new motors under warantee. The 3.8's blow head gaskets at the slightest hint of heavy work and now GM is supercharging them.
I just this May quit a transportation company that had two cavaliers for moving senior citizens around. One was cheap, cheesy and smelled of petroleum products all the time but it ran good. The other spun two rod bearings running a long at 50 mph with the speed control set. The oil which had 2500 miles on it was black as coal and gritty. The dealer replaced the motor under warantee, but the car just started to fall apart right after that.

So when I combined what I know of GM's lack of reliablity with the fact that the whole line seems to be atleast three steps down from the LS, I would be kicking myself if I had to get out of the LS and into a GM product.

But that is only my opinion and you are welcome to stay on the forum and ignore it.

Well that is better that you explained why, most do not and have no valid reason to saying this or that is junk. Sounds like the cavaliers were the few that had problems, every line of auto makers has a few bad apple's. I just never had anything bad myself w/ them, maybe its cause I take good care of my cars. Heck last night even though mine was all clean I still want out and wiped it down and cleaned the windows anyway.

Atleast by the time the Cobalt SC came about the ECO was already tried and pretty much perfected IMO because it was in the Saturn ION Redline way before hand. I have seen alot of ECO's running high power and still being reliable. You talked about company cars right? That is a problem right there if the car is driven by different people, no takes care of anything they are using for free so its no surprise if somethings does happen, but there are just plain old lemons from the factory, its gonna happen w/ the mass production. Just like some LS' go forever w/ nothing for some and than there is the one's w/ that have everything go wrong.

As for getting me back in an LS, definately down the road if I find a nice mint one like the '06. Reason I moved to this car and out of the LS was because I want to take care of other things more important, now granted I should of gone w/ an LS or LT Cobalt instead of the SS but the deal was there and it gives me something to have alot of fun in if I chose.

Well don't think the 3.8 is without problems.
I sold an 03 monte ss to a customer and he had it about 4 months, he brought it in at 13,000 miles and the head gaskets had to be replaced.

As for the ecotec, it was in cavaliers all the way back to 2002 (that I know of).
Its getting long in the tooth at this point and GM has had plenty of issues with them that they handle without question as Warantee issues.

Yep, thats the kind of logic i'll be sure to follow with a vehicle purchase. There are thousands and thousands of 3.8 V6 GM engines out there but because one took a crap they arent reliable. Ok. Very convincing, i'm on your team now. No, never mind, i'm not. Sh!t breaking is possible on any manufactured item, including cars. Doesnt make any particular brand or make any more or less reliable. I have had three different cars with the 3.8 and all of them made it well past 100k without issue. I guess i must get lucky or something. The only other GM car i had was a Trans Am and i beat the piss out of that and it still lasted over 100k. Every brand, make, model of car should make it to 100k without major issues. After 100k it all depends on how well it was driven and taken care of for the first 100k.

That 3.8L motor was rock solid IMO. I had two cars w/it. Didn't the GN have the 3.8?

NOBODY on the LS forum should be knocking other cars for their reliability.
The cobalt may be FWD, may be small, may be GAY...but we really can't call them unreliable.

dude, I was only point out one case, trying to give an example of a low mileage blow up.
I used to see 3.8l chevy's and oldsmobiles in the dealer all the time for head gaskets. Both my parents oldsmobiles let go as well. The 3.8 that was swapped into my monza, spun two rod bearings.
I just do not have anyfaith in basic GM engines anymore.

now If I compare that to my fords, I have only ever had one ford blow headgaskets and I was pushing 14lbs of boost through it.

other than that my ford cars all have gotten 100+ without needing a head gasket or rebuild.
So its not a one data point observance, but a long history of crappy cars and crappy engines from GM that sours me on their product.

Took the SS for a ride earlier and took it to a very tight, twisty road. I am talking a road an F1 driver would love, its an amazing strip of pavement. Typically you should do no more than 10mph, I am not exaggerating either, you need to take it easy unless you have some skill and a good handler. I thought the LS did a nice job, got it through it pretty nicely much above the typical limit but oh lord was the SS marvelous, I had so much fun that I did it about 4 times before someone who lived on the road came out and stared at me so I thought that was enough.

Did not beat on it bad though but already I love the car. Wish I had the money to enter it into some SCCA comps, maybe a future venture.

I am actually thinking of downgrading its look so you cannot tell its an SS SC. Maybe disguise it as a LT model besids tires and a different set of rims. Be a nice little sleeper after sometime.

Dang....this is turning into the old "I'd rather push a Ford than drive a Chevy" debate.

Let's get out a case of Pabst Blue Ribbon, the rebel flag, and put on some Lynyrd Skynyrd

Make it a case of Guiness and I'll bring my entire southern rock cd collection.

But seriously, I have never had a good experience with a GM car.
Sorry, I'm not gonna lie.

Hey Beamer,
Where was this great road, I was just down in NC and over into TN before labor day on some of those great roads with my Honda 'Cycle and the LS.
I drove 129, a big chunk of 28, 143 as it changes to the cherohala and a few other roads and had a ball.
On the way down, I came into NC from TN on 129 at like quarter before midnight and I loved it. My wife got car sick, but that just tells you what a rollercoaster those roads were.

I can't wait to get back down there again.

This road is a little side road that is all. Its just off of HWY 74, forget the one but its not a high traffic road, more or less just for the peeps who live on it.

There are some great little roads here no doubt, I-485 that circles Charlotte is a nice go fast one but it depends what time and where you are on it, can easily get nabbed or can easily top out. Coming off of 85 onto 485 just after Concorde Mills(mall) is a nice place to really get it but sometimes there is a cop or two hidding out.

I remember coming back from a NIN concert in SC and getting on 485 and letting the v8 t-bird rip. Did the same thing on the road coming back from seeing my favorite group in Danville, VA in the LS, there were a few others looking for fun but I played by myself instead of risking anything.

As for Ford Vs. Chevy, my whole family is pretty much Ford and so am I. I have just had it w/ ford and their BS lately though. Every vehicle that is ours is a ford besides the lone Cobalt now, I like both and have not had any problems as already stated, in either. All together I have 2 t-birds, a '91 Sable(not idling at the moment) and the SS. My dad has an '82 f-250 custom, a '94 ranger I believe, '96 f-150 and an '03 f-150. My mom has a '03 f-250 Super crew, she also shares the v8 bird w/ me. I think I covered them all, the g/f has a '01 corolla :( lol.
