I am trying to decide between Saleen Speed Stars (painted) or GT500 Chrome for my 97 LSC blk/blk. What are your thoughts?

I would for sure get the GT500s if they were polished, not sure about chrome.

I just went through similiar deliberations. In the end, the availability of the cobra stars (which is nil) and my dislike of most of the other available options left me to get pissed off, and I ordered front and rear hub conversions to the mustang pattern. Now I have all the wheel options in the world.

One question, The GT500s are 9.5 inches wide. will I be OK putting a 245/45 on there? that tire is like 9 3/4 section width. Would that work?

I have never messed around with all these car tires before. I am used to tire measurements such as 37x12.5R16.5, none of this metric stuff. :)

I thought about the hub conversions, but if I do that, then I have a set of tires with nothing to put them on. I won't be driving my car in winter, but it would be nice to have a spare set of stock wheels/tires sitting around if needed. I think there is a decent (but still small compared to a mustang) selection that I will find something that will work.

If you go to TCCOA they have a cougar with the gt500s on it. That will give you a idea of how it will look.

Man, I haven't been there for years. I had a few cougars in my past. Only reason I got my mark was to replace a 1997 Cougar that I missed. :)

Will check it out.
