I'm the proud owner if a 2002 ls v8 premium, medium cypress green light parchment nudo lea. int. 30,780 miles. original owner. car never driven in snow so its never had road salt on it. I have one slight dink on the rear qt. panal. ext and int is in excellent condition. New bridgestone tires. I replaced all 4 window regs and 1 fuel pump. also has full dash wood trim kit on it.. Now after reading entries here i bought valve cover gasket kit, aluminum thermostate tower and timing chain tenioners. I did not buy the degas bottle or other cooling parts yet although i know i will need them to do the job complete in one shot. but this is the question. only have 30,780 miles on it and it runs likt the day i bought it. hold off for a few thousand miles or do it now. also ran mobil 1 since day one thanks. I think you should sell it to me. As a favor, I'll give you a hundred dollars or so for it if you'll deliver it to me here in Detroit. When you get here I'll even buy you a Quarter Pounder and LARGE fries as a token of my esteem.

Me? I'm no expert, but I'd run it unless JoeGR or someone that IS an expert gives a reason not to. That's a nice young car there. don-ohio (:^)

If the cooling system isn't leaking now, you can run it. Signs of a coolant leak are a bubbling sound when you shut off, or finding white residue under the hood. In my case, the first leak was on the hard plastic coolant line on top of the engine. There is a rectangular casting mark on top of that hose, and mine developed a damp spot inside that casting mark. Another sign is antifreeze puddling behind the front driver side tire. If you want to make a quick inspection, remove the engine cowl cover and look the degas bottle over as best you can. If you see cracks, and they are hard to see, you have an issue.

thanks guys. I think when the weather warms up here i'm going to do the valve cover gaskets and secondary tensoniers . last year i started the covers but when i took off the passenger side coil cover and coils to look for oil or water they were bone dry. I didnt look at the drivers side. I do get a burnt oil smell once in a blue moon so i know its best to do the job. my only concern is I hope after removing the coils and replacing them the car will start having the dreaded coil problems . i check out the cooling system and everything looks new. no leaks or white matter on plastic parts. so i will buy all the rest of the parts and hold off on that till needed. love my car. never dirven in snow never hit a pot hole because i dont tail gate... never did hard starts or hard braking. to me it looks better than 99% of cars out there. only problem now is that as i get older..it gets a little harder getting in and out of ithe car lol
