On THIS illustration, what are the common issues regarding front end popping and creaking? I have read about the stabilizer bar and the knuckle but would like to know the exact parts to check based on this illustration. Please refer to the parts by their designated numbers.

I see the knuckle is #2 but what part is usually needed to be replaced on the stabilzer bar....10,11,12,13? Any other parts I should visually inspect before thay diagnose it?

I really would like to know because if the dealer is gonna rip me off on these parts, I want to know the costs before they quote me. Thanks guys!

Thanks.

Mike, you need 10,11,12 which come as one item. I think all those are about $160 at the dealer. That should solve your problem, but if you still get some sounds than you need to change number 2s, which are fairly expensive, about $270 a piece + labor, about $800-$900 at the dealer, so you better hold on to those. For those, you need the lower ball joint, but they come as one piece (#2).

I would change the sway bar first and then see what's going on.

So #13 is not a part that needs to be replaced? Is that part of the stabilizer bar? I saw those on ebay once and they put in the comments that it was a part that needs to be replaced to get rid of the front end chatter?

What the hell are these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000...002QQitemZ120071748956QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

Thanks Artur for the reply!

What can I look at on the stabilizer bar visuallt to see if it needs to be replaced? I mean will i see corroded bushings and stuff or what?

Thanks again!

Well, I had those replaced before with the lower ball joints and it didn't do nothing much, the sound from the sway bar was still coming.

And about the sway bar, it's the bushings that go in the middle that wear out, but you can't see em wore out. Dealer was swearing that my popin sounds and knockings are coming from the foam that is under the front bumper, can you believe that :q:q:q:q?????

Anyway, I forced them to changed it after my car was sitting there for 3 days and then all the sounds went away.

I say do the sway bar first, if those little metal piece with plastic in them (#13) are not too expensive change em too, but I don't think that they make any difference.

I think it's hard to get it out of it's place when you are without a lift. I read somewhere that it's more of job than it really looks like. Dealer charged me about $150 to change it, but I very good with em and they always hook me up.

What kind of noise does the car make when you have bad ball joints? Grindy / hollow noise like most cars?

My car is making a popping noise over bumps, what could that be?
