Weird A/C Problem

My 2002 LS has been running fine. I park it one day and catch a ride with a friend and then come back and start my trip home and realize its really hot. I go to turn the A/C on and i have no power to my unit... A few days later i hit a bump and it comes back on mysteriously only to stop working again the next day. Does anyone know whats wrong?

I cant be the only who has this problem. With the weather here in texas i need both heat and cold daily! Can anyone help me figure out whats wrong?

does the controls on the inside of the car light up and work. If they do then it sounds like a compressor problem. sometimes the electric clutch that engages them gets messed up
