Search your Program Files directory for any programs with "freeze" in their name.
My son picked up a different virus on his PC a few week ago. It kept sending him to a different search site. None of the virus scans that I ran (at least three different programs) found it. Searching the web for solutions, most of the results I found were clearly more viruses pretending to be programs to remove the one he had. The few real sites I found had no solution. They did seem to believe that the particular one he had came from downloading a free game. He had just recently done so.
In the end, I had to wipe his drive and reinstall windows.
