I own a 2004 Lincoln LS and the factory sounds good but I want great. I recent saw how I could get access to the rear speakers in the window but they look like their hooked to an amp. I just had a few questions in reference to ossible upgrading

1) Is it worth it?
2) What size speakers are they? 6*9??
3) Where can I purchase adapters for the wires coming from am.
4) How do I get to the speakers in rear window?
5) What are best speakers to purchase for replacement with amp in car?
6) Is it worth it?

Thanks LVC, upgradees would not be possbile without you.

The speakers in the package tray are 6x9 subwoofers and they're accessed from beneath (this question was recently asked and answered, but I don't remember the details). FYI, you can't just replace them with full-range speakers to upgrade them, because the head unit only sends them the frequencies appropriate for subwoofers, not a full range signal.

This has been covered many times. In my opinion, it's not worth it depending on what your expectations are. I was going to add rear speakers to my car, but decided to just run a sub. It all depends on what you are looking to gain.

Could they be replaced when using an aftermarket head unit?

I too didnt replace them...just added a sub.

It depends on the head unit and how many speakers it supports, but it's possible. I don't know if the amp for the subs will handle a full range signal, though, so you might have to replace that, as well.

Damn, thanks for the warning. I just had a pioneer avh3200bt installed and was getting ready to put new speakers in the back. Guess I'll just get subs whenever I can. The factory speakers are pretty beast already.

What i did was turned the bass all the way down to halfway on the stock nav and let my sub handle all the bass.
