When I sent my 9.5 inch PI "stallion" single disc converter to Circle D I asked the guys if they could take pics while cutting it open. They said sure no problem. Nice of them huh? Here is a little converter 101.
Here is the converter I got off ebay. Why would they paint them pink is beyond me!!
Here is the lock up clutch and billet back cover. As all you MK8 guys know this clutch is what causes "converter shudder" when it gets contaminated.

Here is close up of the beat up clutch material. This is the clutch that Circle D upgrades with better material.
Here is the inside hub
Here is the stator.(alum part) On cheaper converters they will trim this part down in a lathe. Not a good thing. Buy cheap get cheap!
Here you can see all the fins that act just like a fan. There are 2 of these in converter and the face each other. One "fan" thats connected to engine blows fluid across the other "fan" thats connected to trans and thats how a converter works.
As you can see all the hard parts in converter where good. You also notice all the fins are brazed that shows its a high dollar race converter. Low HP converters they just bend over fins to lock in with no braze.
