Ok so I bought this http://www.partsamerica.com/productdetail.aspx?MfrCode=EQU&MfrPartNumber=3145

and stupid me didn't read the manual fully. It doesnt work with my 93 I guess. So, what does? I want to buy my own scanner because well I just don't trust anyone else. Being able to read/delete codes would be all I'd really care about. Any ideas?

Oh and I have the other for sale for $20 shipped if you want it PM me, theres an online manual that lists ALL the cars it works for, looks like everything but my 93.

thats the one i have and IT DOES WORK FOR 93 so dont sell it and lose $10 in the process

either something else is wrong or you are doing something wrong

I was going to buy that same scanner, but instead just use the check engine light. It can be tricky at first, especially as I was unaware that the 93 uses the three digit codes.

I bought that one and the actron I think those are the only 2 available for obd1 and for me they both didnt work. I dont have a self test plug maybe thats why

Moes maybe you can enlighten me. I plug it in, turn it on....well it doesn't turn on when its plugged in. I can have it on if its not plugged in though. Beyond that I read about a self testing procedure but I do have this and I'd like to get it working. I'll try it again tomorrow

maybe its your car,my dad has had 2 and still has 1 93 and i have use the same reader on both over the past couple years.

plug in the large connector and the little single wire connector too.

turn on ingintion and then turn on reader,it should start the self test and you will hear various relays clicking and then codes will start showing up.

why use a reader when you can do the paperclip trick?

autozone can only do obd2 they say.

Does advance pull codes?

Whats the paperclip, and are there any better scanners out there? Today I tried it again (moes the 2nd single connector doesnt fit?) and after turning the ignition on, the tester, then holding test the fan kicks on and no codes are read...just 000.

why use a reader when you can do the paperclip trick?

the main reason i use that one is because i can scan the car,it then stores all the data and i can back in the house and review the codes and look them up online,no counting beeps or flashes ,no mistakes, etc.

the paper clip works fine and its free,i just felt for $30 i liked having something that digitally tells me whats up.

I read something from driller that he posted about the EEC-IV system about counting check engine light flashes and what not, screw that. I wish I could just have a working scanner
