well i have used the search feature and some of the radar detection questions may be out of date. this is what im looking for;

1)has there been any good advancements in radar jamming/detecting
2) what do you use and why, any problems
3) i would like to mount very subtle and hardwired in (i already looked up how to do it, but i would like to see some pics, maybe like a single led or something)
4) do these jammers work with the passive system the cops are using, where they have the guns in standby and zap you real quick when you come into range?

im looking into obviously getting one in the near future and i would like to know what really works for you or any stories where you got saved by your detector

From what I read and was told on here, radar jammers are illegal. There are laser jammers and radar detectors. Laser jammers detect the laser and jam it to give you time to slow down, turn the jammer off do then the cop can read your new safe speed. Radar detectors detect the radar but it is illegal to jam their signal, I forgot why.Its in this thread along with other info.

I have a nice 100$ one I picked up at Meijers (Cobra? I think) and its saved me from at least 4 tickets.

I took it out for a while, thinking I was getting a new car (Before I got the LS) and got a ticket :'(

No you didn't. And if you did, WHY!? Have you heard of Google? You're searching for the latest radar detector news on LvC? Really?

1. Lots and lots of advancements.
2. Grumman AN/APG-77. No problems except for occasional ghosts at over 250nmi
3. www.google.com
4. They work great! Good luck when you get busted with one. It's a FEDERAL offense, and the FCC don't take kindly to it.

i've been rocking a escort 8500 x50 for a couple of years now, I love it, it can track the strength of 8 different radar signals at the same time, i'm about to trade up for a 9500 CI with sensors that get hidden in the front and back of the car and then you just mount a small display some where inside the car.

I've been using a couple of 8500s for a few years now. I had a 7500 before, and it started having false alarms all the time and I had to replace it. The older of the two 8500s is in my wife's car, which I am driving today due to a flat tire she had yesterday. I discovered this morning that her 8500 is not working anymore. It goes through the power up test correctly, but it didn't respond to any known radar sources this morning, and one surprise police radar setup (I escaped anyway).
I think that I will still replace it with another 8500, but it is disturbing that it failed this way.

I use an Bel Pro RX 65 high mount right of the rear view mirror hard wired into a switched power from the mirror.

I thought radar jamming was a federal offense not laser jamming

Laser jamming is illegal is some countries, but not the USA.
Radar jamming is illegal everywhere.

I have the Valentine 1 and love the directional arrows. I grew up with the original Escorts and I still believe they had the best range. More false alarms, but the range was phenomenal. I am less than impressed with the range of the V1. I will probably send it back in to make sure everything is working properly.

V1 stealth mounted and the display in the mirror FTW!

Yeah thats how I thought it worked. Thanks for the clarification.

I never needed a detector cause I know where they all are :-D

They dont always hide in the same places plus it helps when you go out of your area into places where you dont know the cops hide outs

I called grumman, they don't think it would fit in my lincoln and it was kind of pricey, oh well I can still drive my car with a helmet on and look cool.

Thanks for the info frogman, i think a lot more of you now. Who would of thought, a member with an LS would like some input from other LS owners about something that hasn't been on topic for a year. This is my first radar detector and i would like to know what other lincoln enthusiasts have done or heard about there own detectors. This is a automotive forum and i have been here a lot, I'm not some newbie just asking random questions, when i ask something on here, it means i haven't found what im looking for by using the search option. I am aware that im taking a risk with owning one, but im also taking a risk by simply driving my car on a regular basis. I know i can look up radar detectors on google, but thanks for telling me anyways, you get a gold star for that smooth move. BTW if you took the time to read my location im not in the U.S. so you can back off on the FCC threat bud.

You need to chill out a bit, this i know isn't the first time you've rendered your negative opinion on here and really you sound kinda sad in your life. Thanks everyone else, i love that mirror.

You're welcome

i think a lot more of you now.

Your prerogative. It doesn't make a hill of beans difference to me how you think of me. I'm not influenced by how and what people think of me.

Who would of thought, a member with an LS would like some input from other LS owners about something that hasn't been on topic for a year.

That is fine, and I understand your asking for input from other LS members. But at the same time, you're asking questions like "has there been any good advancements in radar jamming/detecting". Now, no offense to fellow Lincoln owners, but this is a question that Google can answer better than any of us. As you said, this is a automotive community. This is not a radar detector/jammer community. That's like asking about coils on an LS in such a radar detector oriented community.

No one is safe from my sarcastic comments. I don't really care if you're a n00b of an admin. If I feel like it, I'll be sarcastic towards you. And just because you don't know how to use the search function, it does not shield you from me telling you to search (properly).

I am aware that im taking a risk with owning one, but im also taking a risk by simply driving my car on a regular basis.

Well... I suppose I'm not used to the risk of having a radar detector in my cars. You see, here in the US, radar detectors are legal in most non socialist states... But I suppose I can understand having to live in fear of getting busted with a radar detector in Canadia and all.

I know i can look up radar detectors on google, but thanks for telling me anyway gold s, you get a star for that smooth move.

A Gold star? You cheap bastage! I want a platinum star! Now!

BTW if you took the time to read my location im not in the U.S. so you can back off on the FCC threat bud.

Yes, I have read your location, I realize you're in Canadia. And I hate to say this to you, but we're not buds. Nor am I a cool refreshing alcoholic beverage. Furthermore, I graduated from BUDs years ago. So either way you look at it, I'm not your bud, nor a bud in general.

You need to chill out a bit, this i know isn't the first time you've rendered your negative opinion on here

I'm sorry... I'm confused here. I'm supposed to chill out just because some random person on the Interweb is telling me I need to chill out? You don't seriously think that there's a snowball's chance in Hell I'm going to take your advice (demand, in this case), from you? You're dreaming, and it's time to wake up.

and really you sound kinda sad in your life.

I suppose this is your professional opinion? I'd tell you about my "sad" life, but I don't want you to eat a gun after I'm done... wait... You're in Canadia, you're not allowed to own handguns. Either way I won't bore you with my supposedly sad life. It's my life, and I'll live it as I damned well please. One of those rights we have here that you all seem to be missing up there.

good, then we have it settled, your a bitchy old man by the sounds of it, you also have a fear in other countries ideas toward its citizens rather than companies, in fact we have more rights than you and we have less corruption than you. i love the U.S. and most of its citizens, but this is why the worldwide community hates you, a small percentage of you act like this selfish, ego boosting, uneducated about the world people.

i just wanted to ask a simple question and you jumped down my throat at it. BTW you are allowed to have handguns here, just most other people choose not too.

good, then we have it settled, your a bitchy old man by the sounds of it,

First off, it's you're, not your. Second, I'm very cynical about stuff. You would be too had you been in my shoes. As far as being an old man... eh. I'm not going to be offended by a young snotnosed punk calling me an old man. If anything else, I'm proud to be an old man.

you also have a fear in other countries ideas toward its citizens rather than companies, in fact we have more rights than you and we have less corruption than you. i love the U.S. and most of its citizens, but this is why the worldwide community hates you, a small percentage of you act like this selfish, ego boosting, uneducated about the world people.

A fear? No. An understanding of other countries and their ideas towards their citizens. I have gone through two passports in the past three years, because the entrance and exit visa stamp pages are full on them. How many have you gone through? I've been all over this world, and you know what? I'd rather still live in this country. It's the most freedom filled (even with all the crap our new socialist administration is doing), of all the countries I've been to.

The worldwide community "hates" us because they don't like they fact we have more rights than do they. And because we think we're the world's police. It's that simple, guy.

I do like Canadia for one thing though. They did send half of their military to aid us in the Middle East conflict... all 12 of their soldiers over there are pretty good guys.

i just wanted to ask a simple question and you jumped down my throat at it.

Jumped down your throat? Skippy, you ain't seen me jumping down your throat. But if you insist, I would be more than glad to do so, what with having such a sad life and all, as you so pointed out. You're not going to like it though.

BTW you are allowed to have handguns here, just most other people choose not too.

Sarcasm eludes you. I'd love to see how a Canadian civilian can defend him/her self with a firearm outside their home.
