As some may know I was considering buying an 04 Lincoln Ls that had been sitting for a year and a half. I confirmed the purchase and have been thrown many problems. dead expensive batteries, dry rotted tires, and weather ignition coils. But the biggest being its all of a sudden started puking trans fluid somewhere in the engine bay. its a bit ways from the transmission radiator. I cant seem to pin point the leak spot. when the car is idling for anything more than 30 seconds it start dripping then streaming fluid. The LS transmission is special and very foreign too me and could use some advice on what too do. should I take a dealing and see if they can fix it or at leased check certain parts? is an inspection going too be my best friend? and is this going too be a potentially $$$ or $$$$$ fix?

Don't say you weren't warned.

Are you sure it's not a power steering fluid leak? It uses the same type of fluid as the transmission.

The leak is coming somewhere off of the hoses on the left side of the car, centered around lines connected too the trans radiator. So id say its not the power steering. And the fluid levels haven't gone down since its puked mass amounts of fluid.

Would left side be as you are looking at it from the front... or drivers seat. The LS has a trans cooler that the hoses run up to the passenger side from the tranny.

Drivers side AND center under the engine is power steering system.

Drivers side* . Lines between the engine and frame. I assumed trans flyid lines as they directly connected too said radiator.

That is a dual cooler assembly.* There is a circuit in it for the transmission, and there is another circuit for the power steering. It's a power steering leak. The common leak point for the power steering is the high pressure switch, usually in the middle of the high pressure line.
(*: Note that the 1st gen used a tri-cooler assembly with circuits for the transmission, the power steering, and the hydraulic fan.)

Just a note that on my 2003 LS Sport that PS electrical switch was leaking thru the switch itself. I had a hard time just getting the switch as there also seems to be an assembly to that has the metal tubing along with the switch.

Here is a thread with pictures of 2006 that might help?
PS Pressure Switch

Our resident LS expert joegr posted part number F3TZ-3N824-A was the switch in that thread.
