Hello,
I'm new to the group and am looking for a 2000-2003 Lincoln LS as a second car. I want to get the V8 with the sport package. What are the typical problems that these cars have so I can look out for them when buying one? I have read an article about problems with transmissions shifting when kicking it down at highway speed.

I just would like to know what to look out for as I begin my search for an LS.

Saw a 2003 the other day that had an airbag light on. What are the things to check on this? Is this a typical problem and what to look for as a repair.

Thanks for you help.

2000 to 2002 is the 1st gen and 2003 to 2006 is 2nd gen. They both have their issues. The 2nd gen they worked out most and if you look for a 2004 + LS are more reliable.

Search the forum for the word "coil". That should just about cover it.

2000 LS V8 sport owner.. Transmission is all i'm going to say. other than that it hasnt really given me any problems.

Thanks for the information, greatly appreciated. I have heard about transmission problems so any car I look at that will be the big issue to check out. Granted not every LS is going to have a problem but it is fairly common. Because I'm looking for something with higher mileage hopefully if the tranny was a problem it would have been fixed by now or symptoms would start to show there is a potential problem. The LS will be my winter car and my wife will also drive it in the summer so we can park the beast...03 Expedition Eddie Bauer. Its nice for travel but I hate filling up the gas tank.

The link below is the car that will go into storage for the winter when I find a LS. 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steering, active aero, etc... Fun car to drive plus I put on the VLS door hinges. I grew up with my family owning a Ford dealership for over 80 years so I have been a die hard Ford driver. This is the first foreign car for me and it's a blast to drive.
