alright well, oddly enough i went home for dinner with my parents, turns out i have a muffler there that is still packaged up. its a 3" inlet/outlet moroso spiral flow, i was planning on just buying a 2nd and using them. heres my question....

would it be stupid/bad/or insignificant if i put 3" inlet/outlet mufflers on my car. the muffler shop would have to make adaptors but im sure they would make it work. im just wondering if it would hurt me or help me or if it wouldnt even make a difference. if it helps me great, if its insignificant great, if it hurts me i dont want to do it. i dont care about gaining power, i just dont want to lose any power. I know the saying "your exhuast is only as free flowing as the largest smallest diameter" in this case being stock 2.25 size. any thoughts?

question 2.... X pipe...

if its not loud enough my thoughts were...take the resonators off and replace with X pipe? Where would u guys place the X pipe? would it make a difference at all if the X pipe and resonators were still on the car?

once again im not going for performance, just sound.

thanks guys.

Id just use what you have. 3 inches is an awful big pipe, but I doubt it will make any difference in power.

An X pipe wont do much, if anything, for power or volume. It will change the way the exhaust sounds when it comes out by balancing the pressure in each pipe, which will make the exhaust sound smoother, but likely not any louder.

Taking out the resonators will make it louder, but it will probably also make it sound a little raspy. Check out Youtube for some LS exhaust clips. Just search for LS exhaust. There's a little of everything just about. Some with resonators, some without.

edit: I just remembered, the LS already has an H pipe, so an X pipe probably wont make any difference at all.

While this person said they aren't interested in power, it should be noted that an x pipe does increase performance, unlike the above information would lead you to believe. The stock H pipe is a far far far cry from the x pipe that is on the magnaflow catback system.
