Since I've got the dash pulled apart and I seem to be rewiring, replacing or wiping down everything, i thought i'd address the slow turn signal issue. I noticed behind the headlight switches two mini barrels. Those look to be the Turn Signal Flashers? Whatever they are I don't think Ford painted them a bottom of the river rusty sludge color ;) Or are they somewhere else? (I have an 87).

Inexpensive, thought i'd start there before checking for corroded bulb sockets and who knows what else.

Just this week I noticed my right turn lamps didn't blink at all, and the left side is very slow.

So, I looked in one of the manuals and the signal-flasher is mounted on the corner of the fuse panel, above the driver's left knee. The flasher is a white plastic can about 1 inch dia., two pins, and plugs into the fuse panel, like a fuse.

Why one side flashes (albeit slowly) and the other doesn't had me thinking there may be two flashers... I thought there were supposed to be two..

Anyways, I'll buy a new one tomorrow and see if that gets both sides flashing as normal.

A new $3 flasher cured my troubles.. So, there is only one turn-signal flasher. ('88 LSC)

There is another flasher... the Hazard flasher. According to this electrical/vacuum troubleshooting manual, it is mounted: "Behind the I/P (instrument panel) connected to the back of the fuse panel."

There are two relays, LH and RH Cornering Lamp Relays, both mounted "LH side of I/P, near fuse panel."
Maybe these are what you describe as "two mini barrels"..?

..good luck with it..
