do they make a hand held tuner for the LS? I have one for my Ford Lightning. is a predator one. Does SCT or someone make one for the LS? if so do they come with canned tunes on it. i was happy with my for the lightning when i was almost stock. thanks for the help.

Yes SCT does make handheld tuners for the LS. The X3 and Livewire which are both currently offered will work for your car. The older X2 will too though they are not really sold new by many dealers anymore due to the X3 replacing them.

i was searching this and your name came up alot. this is my wifes car most of the time but was still looking into increasing the performance and hopefully millage without causing harm or any damage to the car. is this posible?

01 LS non sport. 85K miles
i do have the mag cat back on it.

thanks for all your help and what is your website?

Won't hurt your car at all. And you will gain some mileage too.

do the tuners come loaded with tunes that are safe? My lightning needs a dyno tune each time with the power level i am at now

There are quite a few people running around with tuned Gen1 and Gen2 LS's on this site with no problems. If you have the right tuner take care of you that knows these cars then you will usually be happier with the results compared to getting your LS tuned by someone who hasn't messed with these cars allot. Overall it is a pretty solid mod that will gain you some good performance, power, and a little MPG if you don't have a lead foot.

EDIT: Jeeze am I THAT slow of a typer? I started this post and no one else had replied. In the time it took me to write it there have already been 3 replies??? Guys lay off the late night Red Bull and coffee.

so the tuner comes pre loaded with tunes then or do i need to dyno tune it to make sure it is safe. i dont know if anyone does ls in MN. I dont think its a common car to mod or tune.

ills you sell them with tunes on them? you have any of the old ones that you could preload tunes into? thanks.

Hey bud I am not a paying vendor on this site so I cannot really talk much more on this in the open forum without feeling like I am in violation of site advertising rules. Please email me if you have any questions with specific regards to what I offer. I don't feel comfortable stepping on on paying vendors toes here, even though there is not really anyone else who tunes the LS's on this board as a vendor. Still, I hope you understand... Thanks.

The Xcal3 didn't have any tunes available for the LS out of the box. What you do is hook the Xcal up to your car and perform a "Read Strategy" and then give the results to your tuner. The strategy lets the tuner see whatever he needs to for your car (I don't know exactly how this part goes) and then he builds the tune up from that.
He sends you files via e-mail, you load them onto your tuner (it has the printer-style USB plug on one end and needs a regular USB plug on the other end to plug into your PC) and then plug it in to the car. Pretty easy.

My XCAL3 has a pre loaded tune . It did not when I first got it, but after doing the updates to the XCAL on SCT's site there was one there. I tried it, and sucked in my opinion as compared to ILLS tune. With the pre loaded one I could not get to SST1, only like stock 2.
