I have a 2002 ls sport v6 and its time to replace the shocks.

I was considering getting the Euro shocks since find the sport suspension "okay" and would prefer something a little firmer.
Now I was trying to give my business to a local parts shop, but here is where it gets confusing.
Their computer catalog lists three suspensions for the 02 ls sport v6;
standard,performance and special suspension.

Since there are no commments to straighten out these catagories versus std, sport and Euro, I went to LS Concepts to get the OEM part numbers.

When I go back to the parts store, they can only match the std numbers to the std in the catalog. They can order either of the other's but, there is a real kicker, once ordered the performance or special suspension shocks cannot be returned.

So I ask you guys, can anyone tell me the Motorcraft part numbers for the Euro shocks for a 2002 ls? Or can you tell me if the Euro is the performance suspension or the special?

I mean I've been going to this shop for 22 years, so I know that Bill and Walt are not trying to jerk me around, they don't know either.

Hey guys, can anyone help me here?

I need to get shocks for the ls sport.
I would like to buy them from my local parts store since I have done business with them for like forever.
The problem is that they can't seem to figure out which of the shocks that their computer system lists are the euro shocks and which are the original sport shocks.
Can someone please tell me the motorcraft numbers for the euro shocks.
I even went to rock auto and they don't list euro they list standard, performance and special suspensions.

Thanks gang

Well, the part numbers you see on my website are the actual Ford numbers. I doubt there is a Motorcraft number. As for the euro shocks they are considered the "special" shocks that your dealer person is referring to. The performance ones are the sport version. I had the standard shocks on my LS before switching to the sports and I love them. I have not rode in an LS with the Euro shocks but have heard they are a little more firmer than the sports.

thanks Ken, If Bill my buddy at the parts store can't get them for a reasonable price I'll be ordering from you.

I just want to try and keep a good shop in my area open.

Thanks again

The OEM shocks spec'd for the V6 sport are the eruo's, you can't get any stiffer than what you have now.

a. I hope not since they were pretty soft to me.

b. That is not what I see on LS-concepts site.

what still gets me is all the catalogs that i see for parts that break them down as standard, performance and special only ask what color code is on the spring for the special suspensions.

does anyone know the difference in the purple and green springs?

AFAIK, the euro shocks were not factory-installed on any LS sold in the US--they were for the still-born European LS program. All Sports got sport shocks.

That was my understanding.
Which would also sort of explain why there are no Euro rate springs..

Hang on....
will jag s type springs fit our shocks???
I think I remember seeing a set of spirited road springs somewhere for the stypes.

If im not mistaken sprint does make springs for the LS im sure someone one here has them I think it dropped the car 2 inches which is a good bit for a DD

Below are the descriptions for both front and rear. The fronts are the real tough ones. The Motorcraft number is the short # of the 2. I blacked out the MSRP so I don't step on any toes.

shocks

these are the fronts
the std susp is a red #1W4Z-18124-AA or ASH-149
the spl susp is a white 1W4Z-18124-CA or a AST-26
the perf susp is a silver 1W4Z-18124-EA or a ASH-151
these are the rears
std yellow XW4Z-18125-AA or AT-703-G
spl lavender XW4Z-18125-BA or AT-704-G
And this is a partial listing in the ford catalog!!

I switched my original shocks out this past may with the help of several other LS owners, and they were the euro shocks. It may be that just the MTX came with the euro shocks.
