trunk issue

I have not had any problems with my trunk until i got a 12" alpine type r. Now my trunk opens by itself (from bass?)every once in a while, has any one had this problem? How can this be resolved and please dont say take the system out. Thanks in advance.

probably a new latch assembly. i have more bass than that on an old 2000 LS and mine trunk does not malfunction.

I have the same problem and can not find a solution. I just put a punch 12" in my 2003 ls and now my trunk is popping open while I drive. Its annoying, and I know people with way more in there's then me as far as power, so I'm stomped.

It is probably that plastic piece along the back of the trunk that kinda covers the latch up. If that piece is not on all the way down then the trunk will close but not latch. If that is not the problem check your rubber truck adjusters and make sure that they are not out to far because if so then that might not allow the hook to go down far enough for the trunk to latch.

I solved my problem. I just slam my trunk now and it doesn't seem to come open from the bass. I guess the latch wasn't closing right, but I checked all the rubber and plastic and it seems to be on there right. I don't like doing it because I feel over time I could damage something but for now this is the only thing that is solving my problem. I hope it helps til a better solution is found, if one is found.

+1 on the rubber stoppers, try screwing them in just a little bit. also you may need to adjust the latch itself.
