I have a 2000 LS with alpine deck, amp and factory subs. I have a couple questions:

1. i want to upgrade the factory subs. what size and resistance are they?
(5x7) 2 ohm? any good brands?
2. hookup of aftermarket sub:
I have a high/low converter hooked up after the factory amp, but the high bass doesnt sound good at all.
2.1 how do i get the high bass?
2.2 any adapters to "Tee" off from the factory sub to hookup to the "low level input" to eliminate the high/low converter? ( i want to keep the factory sub and speakers.

The factory subs are really meant for high / low range only, the medium range really sucks.

I'm pretty sure that mine are 6x8's, and they're only on what I think is a 200w amp?

Get in your trunk and take that undercover off to see everything, should just be a few screws holding it there.
