Ok, so on Christmas I was on my home from the girlfriends house about 45 minutes away when the "D5" light blinked "E" for the first time. I came here and got the response that it was probably the solenoid or possibly the valvebody.
Since then it has done this once more (was out on a "spirited" drive and going up a hill I noticed the power drop, almost as if it were limping or gasping for air). It flashed the "E" then as well, since then it hasn't done that. However, it has had problems going up hill, oh and on the interstate on Easter i was stuck at 119 mph, I've gone 130 but this time she just got to 119 and wouldn't budge. Does anyone have any idea(s)?
I called the dealership and asked them for a price on the transmission solenoid, and the guy on the other end asked me "which solenoid, shift solenoid"; being at a disadvantage in information I just said, "yes." Well, they have ONE in stock for 370$. Basically I have a few questions: 1) Is 370 a reasonable price? 2) How difficult is it to swap out the solenoid. 3) Is there more than one solenoid? 4) Does it sound like the Solenoid? 5) Which would be easier for someone slightly mechanically inclined to replace?
