So I when to my local performance/tune shop to have some work done on my brakes. They did what they needed to and took it for a spin around the block and back. The Tech guy came up to me and said; that things not stock is it? I told him what all I’ve done to it (cai, exhaust, sct tune). He told me that I should put a stall in so get better low end. I eventually want to put 3.58 gears in but I got to thinking about this and using the search function and I didn’t see a whole lot of people will transmission stalls. Does anybody know where I can buy a transmission stall?

You will need to change the torque convertor. Its basically the automatic clutch mating the trans to the engine. I think someone here has done this to their GEN 1.

hear are some of the fixes for the 5R55N Trans...

and he is a stall HD with 400 to 800 more stall RPM

from what i have learned was a converter can help get alot more power to the wheels and make your car launch MUCH harder... we seem to have a 2500 stall now... so I would say we would be able to leave the hole at around 3500.. which puts us alot closer to are power band... when my trans brakes.... which i now it will,,, (have seen trans overheated 3 times now) I will be doing the shift kit stall and bands and servos!

What temperature makes this message appear? I drive my car pretty hard and I've never seen this! Looks like I've found someone that drives their car even harder than I do:D

Okay so going off of what you stated the 1st gen LS automatic has a 5R55R transmission and with the link to this transmissioncenter.org place we have some part avalible to us but unfortunately no stall.
However I see all these parts and I’m hoping they will work well on the LS’s trans.
With me still having the 3.31 gears in the rear do you think they’ll be any problems?

One more question. How do I find out what transmission I do have? I want to make sure I have a 5R55N trans.

the very first item on htat page is a stall for the 2003 and up lincoln

then link below it is a stall for the 00 -02 lincoln

Cool! Thanks guys I'm sure I wasn't the only one with these questions. Now I just need to figure out what upgrade I want to do first.
I'm thinking the shift kit.

Oh one more thing. Seeing as how the bid for that stall has ended do you think it would be a problem to have those other parts put in without it?
