Hey guys, I upgraded my 1-2 accumulator piston and springs a couple days ago. The fluid was changed to mercon V. It Shifted fine until today. It still shifts real smooth but it prolonges each shift and now it won't go into overdrive at all. What could cause this?

Did you flush out all the Dextron or just drain the pain and replace it with V?

I never thought about the cooler or lines. Would not draining them really make that much of a difference? Would it keep the tranny from going into overdrive? How much fluid would be in the cooler and lines? Right now about 55 mph I'm turning 2000 rpm with stock gearing.

Did you per chance drop the o/d thinking it was the 1-2 and put it back and dropped the lever??? Unless you are aware of it, it is missed all the time when reassembling when doing the job in the car, on the bench the lever stays in the correct position. Almost everyone does that once!!

If you used straight mercon V, oil in the cooler and lines would recontaminate it. Straight mercon V is not compatible with Dextron/Mercon II or III. You can use it, but you must drain ALL of the old fluid out.
