transmission question

i have a 93 mark 8,i was told that i have to have the trans flashed for shift speeds,it shifts but to quick,it also holds all the gears great no slip or shuttering,they said that when you disconnect the battery you have to re-flash,is that true?the car has 118,000 on iti bought this as a fixeruper,thanks for your help,jon
ps,if anybody wants to know how to program yr remotes its as easy as 1-2-3-

Flash the trans? Ok.....

If you are all stock, you 1-2 accumulator spring is most likely broken - hence the harsh shift which will quickly kill the trans. The updated spring is much better.

Please go to the Tech section to read how... Don't forget that you will need to re-do your tranny fluids... Replace with Mercon V.
