Transmission problems

Hi guys

I have problems with the transmission of my 2001 Lincoln ls.70000 miles

In the valve body, searching the forum I found issues recostrucion valve body.

The symptoms are:

A kick to put D in the car being cold.
Small jumps if you keep the car on the 5th to 60 miles up to 70 miles, as if the car were to change gears.

Seeking amazon finds this:

I recently changed the oil and the flirtation of my trasmision.Castrol Mercon V

Reconstruction is reliable, it is also necessary to change the solenoid.

change your seloinod , mercon v , trans go shift kit and fluch it in the one stealer and normaly all problem wil go
changing coils and spark plug will be a good iniciative to (all in one shot)

Dealership. Best way to get it brand new without fiddling around on the net for one that is used/remaned.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but what could be damaged if you throw the car into park while going at 10mph? Don't ask why I had to do it .

Since it's electronically controlled probably none. The computer won't let the the transmission hurt itself. I know the guy who's job was to try and break the trans.

Thats a job? You mean I could have gotten paid for what I did to that 88 Town Car that I had in high school?
 
there are some ford dealers sorry i will try to connect with my other laptop to give y direct links next time, but i think its tasca parts or giant these two are ford oem parts in e bay be out off the part refubrished in the case of transmission
 
Nobody has said anything about the overdrive servo. I'm guessing when you said "it jumps when you keep it on the 5th at 60 to 70" your saying in 5th gear at 60mph up to 70mph the transmission will try shifting from 4th to 5th and do a little dance like that?

It has come up a few times that the overdrive servo bore gets messed up because the servo is steel and the transmission is aluminum, causing excessive wear. After you replace the solenoid and do the kit, if the overdrive issues is still there than you know what the problem is.

It's a good bet it's already happening, and if you are going to remove the transmission to do the other work, might as well get the overdrive servo out of the way

A pretty good, all encompassing write up. I forgot to mention, check the transfluid first and pull the pan off......obviosly drain it before you do, and check to make sure it doesn't have all the shards and stuff before going any further.

He just replaced the overdrive servo with one that has an oring on it to keep the pressure up. The permanent way to do it is have the aluminum housing drilled, and have a steel sleeve pressed in, a much more expensive option.

Everything laid out in this how-to thread should take no more than a weekends worth of work. Could be done in a day with a friend who has mechanical expertise.

Good luck and the sooner you get this resolved the better, or else you could end up getting a reman.
