I searched around but i was looking for some more info.

I am doing the a trans cooler in my 98 mark tomarrow.
Heres what i know.
top line is the return line so i want to go anywhere from that fitting on the stock trans cooler to the trans...
But should i just cut the line right around the stock one and tie my new one to the condensor? here is the one i got. its 20,000 GVM

Also, some guys were talking about deleting the factory cooler unit? is there any benifit to that? i am moving to texas before the next winter hits so ...

anyways any pointers you guys got let me know..

Anyone have pictures of theirs mounted on the car?

Thank You guys again,

Cody

the guys at the part store told me it adds additional cooling to the stock trans cooler. the kit i have is a bypass. the top line goes into the other cooler then it goes back in to the stock cooler.

There are several ways that these are being hooked up and it all depends on the type of driving you do and where you live as to how you do it.

The first item is what type of cooler. Plate types are the preferred as they have more capacity to shed heat and typically are better constructed. They also cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for. The size of the unit is by how many BTU's it can cool down. Below is a link to the B&M cooler I have in both ny Marks.

Mine are mounted side ways in front of the radiator on the passenger side with the fittings pointed towards the drivers side. I used the enclosed metal strapping to make the attachment. I also plumbed mine so that the fluid from the trans goes thru the radiator first then thru the add on cooler for additional cooling before it goes on to the transmission. I did this because I live in a colder climate and wanted the fluid to warm up faster in winter conditions. Some members who live in southern warm climates have successfully bypassed their radiators all together.

Hope this helps

Bulkpart.com Hayden cooler: $50 - OC-1678

Works pretty darm well for my application.

I took the stock radiator cooler out of the system.

I followed the directions as to what has been posted in the Tech section.

But I modified the brackets a little.

This is a Plate cooler [24,000GVW]

Mod the brackets. Start with a coat hanger to find your angles.

Yes and it doesn't have those stupid zip mounts thru the radiator.

It's as solid as the factory would build it and dosn't touch anything to vibrate a hole in it.
