trac loc

You can use that one but the best way to go is to find a used one from the junkyard for dirt cheap and rebuild it. I rebuilt mine to 03 Cobra specs which is far stronger internally than a stock new 28 spline trac-loc from Ford.

Its not a matter of beign stronger... you aren't going to break a tlock anyways...

Upgradign to 03 cobra specs just gets you better clutches and a stiffer spring make the track lock able to hold both tire together and put more power down...

it is a matter of being stronger I have seen many broken diffs. One on a stock 95 t-bird broke the spider gears in half on a high speed corner. The trac loc in a 03 IRS has bigger pinion shaft bigger side and spider gears also the case is stronger with less flex on top of the carbon fiber clutches

yes
that is what I did

Curiosity gets the best of me... mind elaborating? You just swapped in the carrier from an 03-04 Cobra, swapped the halfshafts, and were good to go?

How about the rear hubs and bearings and whatnot?

For all intents and purposes, I never intend to make enough power to break my 28 spline rear, but heaven forbid should something happen I wouldn't mind swapping a Cobra rear end in there.

Cobras have 28 spline hubs no matter 99-04... the 31 spline part is the inside of the cv and trac loc. I just didnt think the shaft was long enough.
