Well I was able to get 4 runs in before it started raining out. It is opening weekend at Great Lakes Dragway and I was delighted that there wasnt too many cars there; probably because of the impending weather.

First run I had some ricer dude pull up in the right lane and I totally murdered him. I had him by .5 in the RT and 1.5 in the ET. I ran a 14.6 on that one by the way.

Second run I ran a diesel F-250, well lets just say I had to come to a complete stop on the track to let him have right of way when exiting the end of the track.

On the third run I ran against a Pontiac Grand Priz GTP. I dont remember what year, but it was one of those that had the M90 supercharger on it. He had a pulley, intake, tune, and exhaust. I killed him in RT too, by more than .5 seconds. He got me in ET though; 14.1 to 14.7.

Last run I decided to play with the LS in SST mode and went against a WS6 Pontiac Firebird. Once again I murdered him in RT by more than .5 seconds. He of course gained that back pretty quick and went on to run a 13.1 against my 14.5 @ 97.7 mph.

I know the car had a 14.4 in it no problem. I just need to stop squealing off the line and instead of shifting to 4th gear right before the traps; just revving it out to 6700 in 3rd. I am pretty confident that with a little practice I can get that ET down a bit.

I REALLY wanted to bring the Explorer out to see what kills I would have with it, but I just waxxed it and I knew it was going to rain sometime today. One of these days I will race the X and see how low in the 13's I can go. The coolest thing is that since we got rained out, I got those runs in for free because they gave us all a raincheck. All in all a pretty fun day and I really kicked azz in Reaction Time!

Damn those are some nice numbers. What kind of tires do you have?

sounds good, any videos?

Nope. I went by myself and I figured I would not have much time before the track got rained out.

Sounds like fun! If you happen to have a scanner, would you mind posting the slips?

I wish I had a scanner. My fiance does, but that is 2 hours away. I will post all the information for the fastest run though.

Where's this track at? And what does it normally cost to run? I've never been to a track, so I'm a little intimidated. BTW, I got an 03 LS V8. All stock.

thats some real good numbers man.. i got a 9.7 s my best time on the 8th and my 60 foot was 2.23 on my best run. i think i need to invest in the xcal then go back for the clk430 that got that win on me. i have a 00 v8 non- sport w/ kkm. fun times.

GLD is near Milwaukee. Good track too, I might head out there once or twice this summer.

The track is in Union Grove, Wi. You take highway 45 north for about 20 miles or so and then take a right onto County Line Rd (KR). Go about 1 mile or so and look to you right. There it is.

If you ever want to meet up I can show you the ropes of how things work at a track. It is pretty simple, but when you first start out there is nothing worse than looking like a newb. lol. Just let me know and we might be able to cruise on up sometime and see what your stocker 03 LS can put down. Who knows, maybe I can even persuade you to mod it. hehe

That 60' is not bad. I can guarantee that it is better due to my throttle by wire. The tune took A LOT of the jerkinness and slow reaction out of it, but off the line it is still there, even with TC off.

Yeah, I'd love to see what my stock LS can put down. Although, these cars are all about the handling. Would be fun to take one of these through a couple of laps at a track to see how they fare.

I'll let you know about heading up to that track one day. When does everyone usually meet there? I'd like to go one weekend as a spectator to just get a feel for things.

You go to Great Lakes?? The car club I am in runs and judges the Import Wars car shows that are out there!! Those are some sweet numbers, hope to see more LS guys out there this summer!!

Watch out for those damn 'Strokers. There are a few around here that will flat embarrass you. They start pumping up the boost and fuel on those things and they can flat move.

Impessive numbers.

Next time someone goes there, post before you go, I'd go if I'm free. I want to run my MarkVIII or my CobraII, both need a few things before I can run em thou.

There isnt a time really. I just go when I feel like it on their test n tune days. Being a spectator your first time around isnt too bad an idea. I also could ride with you or vice versa so that you can make a pass or two down the track with someone riding shotgun talking you through it all. Nothing complex, just certain parts of proper track ettiquete that are good to be adhered to. ;)

Oh yeah. There was one diesel truck there that sounded very mean. The turbo was pretty dakn loud even at idle. I kind of saw it run one time and I am guessing it ran a low 14 or so. Maybe even a high 13, as I could not really tell by the end of the race.

Going to the track again tonight. Taking the Kenne Bell supercharged Explorer this time.

No offense but if that is what he ran he had a crappy run. They run 14.5-14.7 completely stock. I owned one. Pulley, intake, exhaust and basic tune (DHP) they will run mid to high 13's. Mild mods mid to low 13's and big boy mods 12's and even 11's. Proof is at http://www.clubgp.com and click on the 1/4 mile list. You have to prove the run with a certified time slip.

No offense taken. I know what his mods were because I seen them with my own eyes. The only thing I could be suspect on is the pulley, as his looked pretty big(stock). Nevertheless he ran a 14.1 and he sure as heck didnt appear like he was having any problems with anything. I never seen any kind of stutter that would have indicated him losing traction. Of course both of us lost traction while launching though. If you can call a 2.3 sec 60' time a launch. hehehe. I got him off the line and then he slowly pulled by me from there.

I dont disbelieve you about their modded abilities, I am just telling you what I experienced. Either way that car wasn't stock. It was a fun day.

If it was so much fun, then get that Explorer to the track!! I want to see what that runs.

P.S. NICE Wideband- Innovative is the best on the market IMHO.

Ran the Explorer tonight actually. Absolute horrible traction! I am in SEVERE need of DR's or slicks! The truck has 13.4 in it while detuned but the best ET I could make it muster tonight was a 13.7 @ 98 mph. I had to feather the throttle sooooooo much off the line it was rediculous. I also paid some ricer dude to swap me places so I could run a LS2 GTO. I absolutely MURDERED that GTO! Take a look at a few of the vids.

KBX-137-ET

KBX-vs-LS2-GTO

Enjoy! Soon enough I will put the race engine (already ordered) and built tranny in it and along with the swapped rear end I will be able to repulley the supercharger and run 20psi @ over 600+rwhp. It will be really fun then!
